Ninth Annual "Thunder Over The Boardwalk" Returns To Atlantic City
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J., July 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The 9th annual Atlantic City Airshow "Thunder Over The Boardwalk" will return to the sky on August 17, 2011. Headlined by the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and the U.S. Army Golden Knights, the largest airshow on the East Coast will feature parachute teams, fly-bys, formations and much more.
Kicking off the patriotic festivities will be the inaugural Atlantic City Salutes America's Armed Forces Boardwalk Parade. This Boardwalk parade, scheduled for August 15 at 6 p.m., will include military bands playing patriotic music, representatives from each branch of the military, veteran and civic organizations, and much more.
"The Airshow has become the signature summer event for Atlantic City," said Jeffrey Vasser, president of the Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority. "With last year's show attracting an estimated 650,000 people, Thunder Over the Boardwalk is a major economic generator for the city and is great for local businesses. We're looking forward to another successful show."
Past airshow demonstrations and fly-bys have included the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, Air National Guard and civilian acts. This year's airshow begins at 10 a.m. and admission is free.
The Atlantic City Airshow "Thunder Over The Boardwalk" is a community partnership between the Greater Atlantic City Chamber; the 177th Fighter Wing of the N.J. Air National Guard; South Jersey Transportation Authority; FAA William J.
