Newport Academy Featured in "BREAKING POINTS" Documentary Exploring Drug Abuse by America's Youth

NEW YORK, Sept. 15, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Newport Academy, a leading treatment center for teens that specializes in mental health, substance abuse, trauma, and eating disorders, is proud to announce their involvement in the new documentary by The Partnership for Drug - Free Kids, BREAKING POINTS.

Directed by Tucker Capps, the film goes in depth to explore the high levels of stress and anxiety that students nationwide face and the dangerous choices some are making to deal with the various pressures in their lives. For 30-minutes, viewers are given an inside look into the abuse of Rx stimulants for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and hear from high school and college students from across the country about their personal experiences dealing with everyday stress.

The documentary also features Newport Academy alumni as well as Founder and CEO, Jamison Monroe, who provides his expertise on the subject matter and further explains why students are turning to drugs to deal with excessive amounts of stress and pressure. Monroe discusses what parents and school systems can do to help teens excel without abusing prescription medication.
