Newly Formed Brain Research Foundation Young Leadership Board Announces the 2nd Annual "Let's Put Our Heads Together" Fundraiser

CHICAGO, Aug. 9, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- After last year's successful inaugural event raised almost $25,000 for neuroscience research, the newly-formed Brain Research Foundation (BRF) Young Leadership Board will host the 2^nd annual Let's Put Our Heads Together on September 7. The BRF Young Leadership Board's mission is to reach a new generation of donors, while also working to end the stigmas surrounding neurological diseases. This year's fundraiser will be at IO Lounge at The Godfrey Hotel Chicago and has already drawn broad interest resulting in brisk ticket sales.

Constantine, Ph.D., executive director and chief executive officer of BRF.  "We are especially grateful to Lauren, Joe, and Jonathan who continue to help propel this initiative with an abundance of energy and passion."

The original concept for Let's Put Our Heads Together came from three siblings and their family's experience with brain injury. Lauren Shapiro Mandel, Joe Shapiro, and Jonathan Shapiro were significantly impacted when their mother suffered a traumatic brain injury when they were very young. The three siblings challenged themselves to create a community to help similarly affected families and young adults by providing fundraising outlets and educational support.

"With Brain Research Foundation's funding approach and impressive track record, we know this initiative – now in its second year — can make a significant contribution to neuroscience," stated Lauren Shapiro Mandel, co-chair of BRF's Young Leadership Board. "Last year's event exceeded our financial goal, and now working with the Young Leadership Board, we hope to reach even more people and families affected by neurological disease."

100 percent of the funds raised from the 2^nd annual Let's Put Our Heads Together will go toward neurological research. The first 100 guests to arrive will receive gift bags with products from LUNA, Rifle Paper Company, Krave, Clif Bars, Chobani, Pure Growth Organics, Essie, and more. Guests will enjoy an open bar, heavy passed appetizers, access to an incredible raffle, and additional educational content.
