Newell Rubbermaid's Sharpie Brand Uncaps Creativity in the Classroom and Beyond with Innovative Back-to-School Solutions
Specially formulated Sharpie Gel Highlighter and Stained by Sharpie fabric markers are designed to meet students' needs while encouraging self-expression
ATLANTA, Aug. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Newell Rubbermaid (NYSE: NWL) is introducing two back-to-school must-haves from Sharpie®, the largest writing brand in North America. The Sharpie Gel Highlighter and Stained by Sharpie® fabric markers equip students to uncap their creativity on multiple canvases inside and outside the classroom.

Sharpie Gel Highlighter addresses the common frustration of smearing with a unique new gel technology that glides onto all types of paper surfaces with vibrant color. Unlike regular ink highlighters, the Sharpie Gel Highlighter goes on the page dry, eliminating bleed-through, and the gel won't dry out even if accidentally left uncapped.
Stained by Sharpie inspires students to customize clothing, backpacks and other back-to-school gear, confident their designs will stay bold and vibrant. With a growing focus on do-it-yourself projects and personalization, students often use traditional permanent markers to customize textile surfaces but, until now, have been frustrated when colors fade after washing. Stained by Sharpie fabric markers feature a new pigmented, fade-resistant ink specifically developed for optimal performance on fabric. The ink does not need to be iron- or heat-set so creations can be used immediately, and it is designed to withstand machine washing for easy care.
"Sharpie is passionate about finding new ways for consumers to express themselves, and we've done it again with two innovative new products for back to school," said Sally Grimes, Global Vice President of Marketing for Newell Rubbermaid's Markers, Highlighters, Art & Office Organization global business unit. "Sharpie Gel Highlighters and Stained by Sharpie fabric markers solve the historic frustrations of their categories, freeing students to be creative and do their best work whether for school or fun."
Sharpie Gel Highlighter is available in five colors – orange, yellow, pink, blue and green with a suggested retail price of $4.40 for a two-pack, $6.59 for a three-pack and $8.79 for a four-pack. Stained by Sharpie comes in eight colors – black, blue, red, green, pink, orange, yellow and purple with a suggested retail price of $9.78 for a four-pack, $12.22 for a five-pack and $19.56 for an eight-pack. Both products are now available wherever office products are sold nationwide.
