New Wilshire Income Opportunities Fund Surpasses $400 Million In Assets Under Management In 2Q
SANTA MONICA, Calif., Aug. 9, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Wilshire Income Opportunities Fund (NASDAQ: WIOPX, the "Fund"), an innovative, multi-manager fixed income fund subadvised by DoubleLine Capital LP ("DoubleLine") and Guggenheim Partners Investment Management LLC ("Guggenheim") has surpassed $400 million in assets under management. The Fund, which launched on March 29, 2016, is the newest Fund in the series of Wilshire Mutual Funds, Inc., Wilshire's subadvised suite of mutual funds.
"We are excited to offer a unique fixed income fund designed to identify attractive investment opportunities in an increasingly dynamic environment for bonds," said Jason Schwarz, President of Wilshire Funds Management. "In combining two elite subadvisors like Guggenheim and DoubleLine into a single fund, Wilshire aims to offer investors differentiated, institutional caliber solutions that leverage some of the industry's best fixed income talent."
The Fund seeks to deliver current income and total return through a diversified, multi-sector portfolio of U.S. and international high yield and investment grade debt securities. The Fund's underlying subadvisors actively allocate to a broad spectrum of fixed income securities with varying maturities to manage risk, enhance yield, and offer total return potential. With the flexibility to invest in a variety of fixed income sectors – including, but not limited to, sovereign and corporate credits, emerging market debt, mortgage and asset-backed securities, floating rate securities, and non-U.S. denominated debt – as well as currencies and preferred stocks, the Fund's subadvisors are able to pursue a wide-range of opportunities to achieve current income and total return.
"Guggenheim is pleased to be selected by Wilshire's experienced institutional manager research team, and to bring our expertise in managing multi-asset, fixed income portfolios to the Wilshire Income Opportunities Fund," said Scott Minerd, Guggenheim Partners Global Chief Investment Officer and Chairman of Investments.
"We are pleased to be working with Wilshire Associates in an effort to provide innovative investment solutions, with the appropriate balance of risk and return," said Ronald Redell, Executive Vice President of DoubleLine.
The Fund is the seventh fund in Wilshire's suite of mutual funds, which are operated alongside four asset allocation funds in the Wilshire Variable Insurance Trust. The mutual fund suite is designed to give retail investors access to institutional caliber money managers by leveraging the proprietary investment and manager research capabilities of Wilshire Associates. The funds combine attractive and complementary strategies from third-party money managers into single, risk-managed portfolios for the individual investor.
