New Survey Finds Popular Priced Alexis Vodka Comparable To "Premium" Brand Grey Goose
NEW YORK, May 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- According to a recent study, a surprising amount of consumers couldn't distinguish between Grey Goose Vodka and popular priced Alexis Vodka.
The New York Post interviewed consumers to sample vodka from a $35 bottle of French import Grey Goose and an $8 bottle of Alexis vodka, which is produced in the USA using pure American water and grain. The results concluded that 44% of those who participated in the taste test, many of whom identified themselves as connoisseurs, could not recognize the difference between the two brands.
The Post published an article about the study by reporter Cynthia Fagen:

New York based Star Industries, one of America's finest importers and suppliers of choice wine and spirits that counts Alexis as one of its premium brands, was delighted that the study indicated the differences between the vodkas sampled were based on taste, quality, and price point.
Star Industries president Martin Silver remarked, "I'm glad to hear that consumers are becoming more aware about how the marketing of a specific liquor can determine cost and that the way these products are manufactured (both Alexis and Grey Goose are 4-times premium distilled) is very much alike. Aside from marketing costs, Alexis is produced, distributed and sold in the United States whereas Grey Goose is of course, an imported French product, in a fancy bottle which adds to the cost."
