New Poll Suggests 'Foodies' are 50% More Likely to Aspire to be Entrepreneurs -- Research by 10 Best Design
Market research and online industry magazine "10 Best Design" is well-known within the worlds of digital and traditional design for their lists of top design agencies. In their most recent report, researchers discovered something interesting about self-identified 'Foodies' and their desire to run their own business.
SAN FRANCISCO, May 23, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- When 10 Best Design set out to learn about day-to-day habits and their correlation to work in the design world, they never expected to uncover a shockingly powerful connection between how people look at food consumption and their propensity for entrepreneurship. The report, Research on 'Foodies,' Digital Design, and the Entrepreneurial Spirit, asked roughly 400 people from around the U.S.A. about everything from physical activity to religious involvement and beyond.
Especially intriguing was the fact that individuals who self-identified as 'Foodies' were actually 49.86% more likely to want to start a company of their own within their lifetimes than their 'Non-Foodie' counterparts.
10 Best Design researchers are experts in a number of design segments. They actively release podcasts, articles and market research reports in the design field, though their most well-known contributions are acclaimed lists of top web design companies which has been featured in notable publications around the globe. Despite this in-depth knowledge and longstanding experience, these revelations proved to be unexpected even for this research team.
"We thought there might be some overlap of 'Foodies' and experience in digital design," a 10 Best Design spokesperson said. "We had no idea they'd be 50% more likely to want to become business owners."
As it turns out, people who currently or have previously worked in digital design are also about 34.95% more likely to call themselves Foodies, and these Foodies tend to be more active in community service and charitable donations at rates of about 30% and 7%, respectively.
"We know that being a so-called 'Foodie' doesn't make a person more or less likely to want to be an entrepreneur, but the idea that, for whatever reason, those people have that mindset is interesting to note," acknowledged the spokesperson.
Indeed, this poll certainly shows no causation, but a difference of 49.86% in a sample of this size is without a doubt statistically significant.
