New LifeStraw® Go Water Bottle Arrives at Retail June 1 - in Time for Summer Recreation, Travel and Everyday Hydration
LAUSANNE, Switzerland, June 1, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- LifeStraw®, a global leader in developing innovative filtration and purification products for safe drinking water, is introducing a new LifeStraw Go water bottle on June 1. It features two-stage filtration, removing bacteria and protozoa to make microbiologically contaminated water safe to drink, while also reducing organic chemicals, chlorine and bad taste. The new bottle comes in five colors to appeal to a variety of user preferences. It's available at retail locations throughout North America, including REI, and online at www.lifestraw.com. The suggested retail price is $49.95.
New LifeStraw Go is engineered for a broad range of activities, from hiking, running and traveling to everyday use at work, home or the gym. Users can express their personal style by choosing their bottle in pink, purple, grey, green or blue. LifeStraw Go weighs under eight ounces and holds 22 ounces of filtered water that meets stringent US EPA standards. It features a flip top bite valve and carabiner, is BPA and chemical free, and raw materials meet US FDA regulations.

LifeStraw Go uses a two-stage filtration process. Stage one is a hollow fiber membrane that removes 99.9999 percent of bacteria (E. coli and salmonella), 99.9 percent of protozoa (Giardia, Cryptosporidium, etc.), and reduces turbidity by filtering particulate matter to 0.2 microns. Stage two is an activated carbon capsule that reduces chlorine, organic chemical matter (like herbicides and pesticides), and bad taste. The hollow fiber membrane filters up to 264 gallons throughout its life; the carbon capsule filters 26 gallons. Replacements for both will be available in July.
Coinciding with the product launch, LifeStraw is expanding its global Follow the Liters program that provides safe drinking water to school children in developing countries. Through this humanitarian initiative, for each LifeStraw purchased, one school child in a developing community receives safe drinking water for an entire school year. In May, the latest Follow the Liters campaign was launched in Alwar, India when high-volume LifeStraw Community purifiers were brought to 33 schools to provide safe water to 8,000 school children. Previous Follow the Liters campaigns have provided 361,000 school children in Kenya with safe water.
