MINONG, Wis., May 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Hangry has met its match, courtesy of Jack Link's. Hangry Hacks, the latest creative campaign from the protein-packed snack company builds on the iconic brand's mantra, Feed Your Wild Side. Hangry Hacks gives fans the opportunity to tackle that gnarly hangry feeling through a fully integrated marketing campaign that includes hands-on demonstrations, social activations and nationally aired television commercials featuring popular YouTube personalities.
The initial campaign launched in 2014; what featured growling appetites and beast-like attitudes has evolved to embrace a "how to" approach or hacks that harness unpleasant behaviors, triggered by untamed hunger. The battle against hangry moments continues through the campaign and showcases that having Jack Link's protein-packed meat snacks on-hand is the perfect fix.
"We've all had those flashes of insanity caused by debilitating hunger, whether in the office, at the gym or while driving, and we wanted to show how to hack that hanger with Jack Link's," said Kevin Papacek, director of marketing at Jack Link's. "Our Hangry campaign is a favorite among fans because it's a universal feeling, and this year we're turning it up with creative, wild hacks that can tackle any hangry moment."
Continuing Hangry's Television Success
The latest spots from the Hangry series illustrate different ways jerky lovers can hack their hanger. One spot titled "Mom Flips Out" shows the perfect family of four driving while brother and sister tease each other in the back seat. Soon, mom has a hangry moment and flips out, clearly needing something to satisfy her hunger. Insert Jack Link's. Perfectly placed in the middle console, mom flips it up, grabs the bag, rips it open and takes a bite of delicious Jack Link's jerky, proving that the protein-packed snack works instantly when hanger strikes.
Building on the brand's work with YouTubers, two spots include popular YouTube personalities and influencers. Geo Antoinette, an actress, producer and owner of her own gym, Barbell Brigade in LA, is featured in a "Boss Has Beef" spot, in which she kicks hangry's butt when a meeting gets messy. Additionally, lifting and fitness enthusiasts, the Hodge Twins and Josh Leyva, a popular sketch comedy YouTuber, are both featured in a spot called "Beefcake." Taking place in a gym, the spot shows Leyva getting a lift of natural protein from an unexpected hangry hack.
Videos will be distributed on-air and online through channels like ESPN, Hulu and YouTube.
Bringing Hangry Hacks To Life
To demonstrate how anyone can perform Hangry Hacks anywhere, Jack Link's is partnering with makers to create their own Hangry Hacks as part of a Hangry Hack-A-Thon, hosted by YouTube personality and competitive eater Furious Pete. The hacks will be revealed during Maker Faire Bay Area, a three-day celebration of invention, creativity and resourcefulness.
Considered the Greatest Show and Tell on Earth, Maker Faire is part science fair, part county fair where more than 145,000 attendees bring technology, engineering and crafting to life. The event will be held in San Mateo on May 20-22.
"There's almost a hack for anything in life, so why not a hack to cure your hangry?" said Papacek. "By itself, Jack Link's jerky is the easiest hangry hack – it's protein packed, portable, and it tastes great. Combine that with some of the most innovative makers out there and you've got some ultimate hangry hacks."
The jerky creations and Maker Faire presence will be extended online through a video content series. Fans will also be able to vote for their favorite Hangry Hack on Jack Link's social media channels.
