SAN DIEGO, May 31, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- To reach its mission of promoting the life science industry in Southern California, BIOCOM has been busy adding new staff and promoting others. They recently brought on Beth Kuch as the marketing and communications manager. With her background in strategic communications, Ms. Kuch will develop and execute a thorough, research-based plan, helping BIOCOM step outside the box and develop creative strategies. She received her Master of Arts in strategic public relations at the Annenberg School of Communication at the University of Southern California (USC) and her Bachelor of Arts in environmental studies from USC. Ms. Kuch joins BIOCOM with over 16 years of experience in marketing and communication gained from working with the University of Maryland School of Public Health, Baltimore County Department of Health, Coalition for a Tobacco-Free Hawaii, and numerous other non-profit and for-profit organizations. Also, Ms. Kuch will lead the marketing and communications team for BIOCOM, the BIOCOM Purchasing Group and the BIOCOM Institute to unify strategies and messaging to better reach BIOCOM members and the life sciences community.
Another new addition to the marketing and communications team is Kim Maibaum, who will be the marketing and programs manager for the BIOCOM Purchasing Group. She received a Bachelor of Science from UCLA and recently completed her MBA at San Diego State University. She has spent several years working in the life sciences industry in San Diego, most recently at Genoptix – A Novartis Company. Ms. Maibaum is tasked with building upon the innovative marketing communications currently employed by the BIOCOM Purchasing Group. She will utilize her industry knowledge and experience to help the Purchasing Group's marketing and outreach efforts reach new heights.
Ms. Jane Zeyak has been working hard to transition into her new role with the BIOCOM Purchasing Group as the event coordinator. This promotion was the direct result of Ms. Zeyak's hard work and efficiency as an administrative assistant for BIOCOM. Her new responsibilities include handling all event logistics, registration efforts, and coordinating marketing efforts for the BIOCOM Purchasing Group events. Ms. Zeyak, a San Diego native, recently completed a Bachelor of Science from San Diego State University. She spent several years working in education at Francis Parker School before entering the life science industry. Ms. Zeyak also serves as the main administrator for the BIOCOM Purchasing Group and will be part of the marketing and communications team.
Ms. Katelyn Doyle graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in tourism management from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She worked for several years in marketing and event planning including positions as function coordinator with the Fairmont Empress and in account management with Bella Pictures. Ms. Doyle has just joined the BIOCOM team in the role of membership and events assistant. She looks forward to helping both departments in the busy months ahead.
Three years ago, Wendela Heering, flew into San Diego from Amsterdam, freshly graduated in marketing and advertising. In April 2011, she started as a human resources intern in the operations department of BIOCOM. Since January 2012, she has been a team member of the BIOCOM Institute, primarily working as a part-time marketing and enrollment coordinator for one of BIOCOM Institute's EDGE grant-funded programs. Ms. Heering is thriving in her new role at BIOCOM as the full-time administrative assistant/receptionist. Her friendly smile and positive attitude serve her well in her role as the welcoming face of the organization. She will also be a contributor to BIOCOM through assisting with key projects.
