New Executive Chef Named At The Lodge At Sonoma Renaissance Resort & Spa
Joshua Murray brings 15-plus years of experience to award-winning Carneros Bistro at Sonoma resort
SONOMA, Calif., Nov. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Lodge at Sonoma Renaissance Resort & Spa is proud to announce the hiring of executive chef Joshua Murray.
Murray will take the reins at the resort's award-winning Carneros Bistro. The premier Sonoma restaurant specializes in farm-to-table cuisine for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner and utilizes ingredients from local farms, ranches and dairies to please the palates of diners from around the world.
"To be working in a destination such as Sonoma, with an abundance of locally sourced and sustainable products, is such a dream," Murray said. "Here, we bring elegance in simplicity, allowing the food to speak for itself while crafting dishes the way Mother Nature intended with honesty on the plate and Sonoma seasonality critical to our menus."
Upon graduating from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI, Murray forged a path that included chef's positions at multiple private upscale restaurants, later shifting his focus to hotels. He joined Marriott in 2006.
Murray's 15-plus-year career has taken him to many parts of the country, including Chantilly, VA at the Westfields Marriott Washington Dulles; Fort Lauderdale, FL at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa; and Palm Desert, CA at the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa.
In Sonoma, Murray will work with a culinary team that has helped earned Carneros Bistro multiple honors in the last few years. The Sonoma restaurant was selected as one of the Top 50 Restaurants in the Bay Area by San Francisco Magazine and boasts excellent Zagat scores for its "exceedingly attentive and pleasant" staff and "upscale" fare. The eatery's spacious dining room boasts a casual yet elegant aura that opens to a vast organic garden where fresh herbs and produce are grown for seasonal dishes. The modern cuisine is complemented by an extensive wine list that highlights Sonoma County while drawing even more attention for the restaurant.
Murray brings to the table his impressive list of accolades that includes gold, silver and bronze medals in various American Culinary Federation competitions. He is a former member of the Culinary Olympic team and has been featured in numerous signature chef events.
"We are thrilled to welcome Joshua to our team," said Suzy Hart, general manager of the luxury Sonoma resort. "His demonstrated skillset combined with his success at a number of our esteemed sister hotels makes him the perfect addition to our team."
