NEF Announces Job Skills Grants for 100,000 Veterans

WASHINGTON, Oct. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Many of our veterans returning from Afghanistan and Iraq are finding it difficult to get jobs due to lack of job skills training, which can be expensive and unaffordable.

To address this serious national problem, the National Education Foundation (NEF), the national non-profit leader in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) education and job prep training announces a new national initiative to help 100,000 veterans prepare for the 21^st century job-market through its certification partnership program with the State University of New York (SUNY) (see www.nefuniversity.org/veterans).

NEF appreciates the valuable service of our veterans gives to our nation. Hence, NEF is offering veterans tuition-free training in 635 IT, Business and Management Web-based courses, from the very basic to the very advanced; including several industry certifications in IT and Project Management.

NEF waives the tuition fee of $400. The veterans pay only a registration fee of $15 to access all the 635 courses. The grants are being awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Dr. Appu Kuttan, Chairman of the National Education Foundation (NEF), states that "NEF's primary goal with this veterans initiative is to assist the unemployed, and underemployed veterans to become gainfully employed".  We recognize that by helping our veterans, we can aid our nation, regions and communities improve economic growth, reduce poverty and achieve sustainable development."

This program offers top-rated Web-based online courses to provide anywhere, anytime training in IT, Business and Management.  The students will also receive certificates from the State University of New York (www.nefuniversity.org ) at no additional cost.

Is communities such as Steubenville, Ohio, where NEF has set up world-class Cyber-learning STEM academies in schools, veterans may get mentoring assistance from teachers at no additional cost. See www.cyberlearning.org.
