PAPILLION, Neb., Sept. 26, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- PenFed Credit Union's first branch in Nebraska continues to attract high-profile visitors during its first month in business. The latest VIP was The Honorable Rick Metsger, board chairman of the National Credit Union Administration. Chairman Metsger traveled from Alexandria, Va., to visit PenFed's state-of-the-art branch in Papillion, Neb., which is strategically located between the Omaha metropolitan area and Offutt Air Force Base.
Instead of imposing teller counters and long rope lines, the new branch layout encourages members to walk directly to service representatives at individual stand-up desks or sit with them in private offices. Waiting time has been virtually eliminated.
"We are honored that the Chairman of our federal regulator and our members' deposit insurer chose to visit PenFed's newest branch," said PenFed Board Chairman Ed Cody. "PenFed is one of America's fastest-growing credit unions, and working cooperatively with NCUA ensures we will continue growing safely and soundly."
NCUA Chairman Metsger also toured PenFed's service center in Omaha, where more than 250 employees handle telephone inquiries and process loan applications from PenFed members around the world.
Combined with a similar service center in Papillion, PenFed employs 503 dedicated staff in Nebraska to deliver best-in-class service for the credit union's 1.4 million members.
Other high-profile visitors to PenFed's Papillion branch have included:
- U.S. Congressman Brad Ashford;
- Papillion Mayor David Black;
- Sarpy County Chamber of Commerce President Karen Gibler; and
- Leaders of four local charitable organizations to which PenFed and the PenFed Foundation have donated a total of $18,000:
- American Legion Post 339;
- Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home;
- Offutt Air Force Base Top 3 Association; and
- Papillion-La Vista School Foundation.
"While we've hosted many VIPs at our Nebraska branch, the most important people we're here to serve are our members," said Cody. "Many of our 10,000 local members in greater Omaha are U.S. military veterans, and we are proud to offer them the convenience of a modern full-service branch."
