NAVEX Global Launches New Workplace Harassment and Abusive Conduct Training
Courseware addresses contemporary workplace harassment issues, includes content tailored to California's anti-bullying law, AB 2053
PORTLAND, Ore., Feb. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Ethics and compliance software and services leader NAVEX Global® today announced the launch of new online training courseware aimed at preventing workplace harassment and abusive conduct. The new courseware is designed to ensure organizational compliance with new requirements on training against abusive conduct in the workplace while engaging employees on important emerging trends.
"Employees are sophisticated consumers of technology and content, and they expect training to evolve from stale, outdated storylines and formats to something more contemporary," said Ingrid Fredeen, vice president of online learning content. "If leaders aren't providing learning that is innovative, relevant and engaging, knowledge retention rates can plummet, employee cynicism risks increase and corporate culture can be adversely impacted."
To reduce risk and increase employee engagement, NAVEX Global's Workplace Harassment courseware is rebuilt with new experiences, interfaces and authentic workplace scenarios every two years. The new courseware comes in multiple versions to address audience needs and blends two powerful learning formats: a lively multi-host talk show format and a learning game designed specifically to educate and equip managers to handle workplace harassment issues. Content also includes specific focus on emerging harassment trends including: harassment of veterans, sexual orientation and gender identity, third party harassment and the intersection of social media and workplace romance.
NAVEX Global's harassment training meets and exceeds new legal requirements (including abusive conduct training under California's AB 2053) and long-standing sexual harassment training obligations (such as California's AB 1825, Maine Title 26, Section 807 and Connecticut Human Rights and Opportunities Act), balancing the need to create strong legal defenses with the importance of creating solutions that resonate with learners.
"All employees can be victims of harassment, and the impact on workplace culture can be devastating for an organization," said NAVEX Global Chief Compliance Officer and SVP of Advisory Services Carrie Penman. "Preventing workplace harassment is a critical training building block for organizations—and harassment-related legal actions are among their highest risk areas. When you spend time and money to educate your employees, you should ensure that the investment drives real change."
