CHATSWORTH, Calif., Oct. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- NATEL EMS recently invested in an additional state-of-the-art Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) line and continues to lower costs for products manufactured in the United States. This represents a continuation of the NATEL EMS effort to bring outsourcing prices within a few percentage points of low-cost labor countries in Asia.
"As American companies reshore production, we facilitate that process by offering cost-effective manufacturing in the United States," said NATEL EMS President and CEO, Sudesh Arora. "By building reliability into the production process as well as engineering cost reductions, we are often adding value that our customers will not find elsewhere in the world."
CCA (also known as printed circuit board assembly or PCBA) is found in most electronic systems. It mechanically supports and electronically connects electronic components using tracks, pads and other features etched from copper sheets that are laminated onto a non-conductive substrate. This new line is located in Chatsworth, CA, and is in use building high reliability Circuit Card Assemblies for medical, space, and military applications.
"While Mexico factories such as our Agave Plant in Ciudad Juarez are becoming competitive with Asia, there are several factors that make manufacturing in the US more expensive than both of these low cost regions," said Arora. "Yet many of our customers prefer to keep production in the US. As we ramp up production on this new line, we are challenging our team with a target worth reaching."
According to the Reshoring Initiative, "offshore sourcing faces increased wages and currencies, higher transportation and fuel costs, and inability to provide the required responsiveness." These factors further increase the NATEL EMS capacity to take advantage of these trends.
NATEL EMS's CCA capabilities allow for reliable placements of both 01005 as well as large format SMT components, and substrate materials (FR4, Rogers, metal core aluminum, copper, duroid, ceramic, CEM 1, and CEM 3). They also offer segregated inventory and production areas for RoHS (lead-free) and non-RoHS (leaded) assembly. NATEL EMS provides manufacturing for high reliability industries where quality is critical and maintains AS9100C, ISO9001:2008, ISO 13485:2003 and MIL-PRF-38534 (Class H&K) certifications.
