Naples Soap Company launches its all-natural bath and skincare line in Japan
Homegrown company inks exclusive distribution deal with famed Kameyama Candle House
NAPLES, Fla., July 25, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Naples Soap Company is pleased to announce that it has finalized an exclusive marketing and distribution agreement with the renowned Kameyama Candle House. The deal will secure retail placement of its all-natural and organic bath and skincare products throughout Japan. In June, the two companies unveiled their full collection of handmade soaps, conditioners, moisturizers, and scrubs to an audience of over 26,000 attendees and 600 exhibitors at the Tokyo Interior Lifestyle Show.
The Japanese market is a natural fit for Naples Soap Company's high-quality, all-natural bath product offerings. Driven by a national preoccupation with youthfulness and beauty, Japan is the world's largest per capita consumer of skin care products.
The timing of the roll-out coincides with signs that consumer spending is helping to fuel a rebound in the world's third largest economy. Earlier this month, Japan's Trade Ministry revealed that domestic retail sales in May 2012 had grown by a better-than-expected 3.6% from the prior year.
Recognizing these trends, Kameyama Candle House is taking action to diversify its complimentary product offerings. Founded in 1927, Japan's largest domestic candle manufacturer is positioning Naples Soap Company as a cornerstone brand for their 5 candle houses, as well as their national roll-out of more than 20 store-within-a-store locations through 2013.
"We are thrilled to be offering our all-natural bath and skincare products to the people of Japan," said Deanna Renda, Founder and CEO of Naples Soap Company. "We could not have chosen a more revered company than Kameyama Candle House to partner with on this endeavor."
Gaining distribution in Asia was the furthest thing from Renda's mind just a few years ago. She initially began developing all-natural, high-purity bath and skin care products for her own personal use to combat her chronic eczema and psoriasis. When she saw what a difference her formulations made in the appearance of her own skin and in that of her friends and family, she knew she was onto something good.
Renda left a successful career as a nurse to found Naples Soap Company in 2009. Starting out in a 300-square-foot space in Naples' historic Tin City shopping district, she quickly began to realize the tremendous potential for growth that her all-natural products had. Initial customers quickly became regulars, and out-of-town shoppers would often write to thank her for their new found smooth, silky skin.
Today, the privately-owned Naples Soap Company has an established fleet of four successful retail locations throughout southwest Florida. Their products can be found in some of the area's most well-respected health spas and physicians offices. The brand has realized a compounded sales growth rate of 50% year over year, and has plans to add a fifth store in the Fall of 2012. Their 5-year expansion target includes 25 domestic retail locations, along with continued international distribution growth.
