ATLANTA, Sept. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of its ongoing efforts to foster diversity inside its industry and throughout the business community, Moxie announced that it is hosting the first-ever 3% MiniCon today.
Taking place at Moxie's newly renovated Northyards campus, the daylong 3% MiniCon is part of The 3% Conference, an event that was brought to life two years ago by industry veteran and founder/owner of Maternal Instinct, Kat Gordon. Throughout her career as a copywriter and creative director, Gordon saw firsthand how under-represented women were in her field. Indeed, only 3% of creative directors nationwide are female — a surprising fact considering that women influence more than 80% of all spending decisions. The 3% Conference was established to bring attention to this very real issue. Dedicated to championing female creative talent and leadership, the event and its community have doubled in size each year since its inception.
When asked about hosting the event, Moxie's CEO, Suzy Deering, had this to share: "The mission of The 3% Conference really speaks to us as an agency — and to me personally as a female CEO. By bringing this event to our campus, we're helping to open the eyes of everyone — not just in our industry but out in the everyday world — to the value of diversity."
Bringing the inaugural 3% MiniCon to its campus is just one example of Moxie's dedication to promoting diversity. The agency boasts several programs — both long-standing and newly developed — designed to inspire understanding, promote individuality and celebrate differences. Through Moxie N>GEN, for example, Moxie is partnering with leading public universities to ensure that tomorrow's digital leaders have the real-world knowledge they need to drive progress in an industry that's constantly inventing and reinventing itself.
Moxie is also working on developing an organization-wide initiative dedicated to women's leadership. Through this program, female team members will receive personalized training to help them explore, embrace and achieve their true potentials as leaders.
As part of The Publicis Groupe, Moxie and its employees are also able to participate in several other programs that actively encourage diversity in the work environment. Some examples include: Egalite, an employee resource group for LGBT employees and their allies; MY STORY, an initiative that supports charities and causes employees feel most passionate about; and Live My Life, a global, company-sponsored employee exchange program where team members can experience the culture, city and working environment of a foreign agency location.
"Hosting the 3% MiniCon is just another example of Moxie's dedication to boldly defining what's possible for everyone — our clients, our agency and ourselves," commented Renee Blake, VP, Group Creative Director at Moxie. "As a female creative director and part of the 3%," she added, "I can personally attest to the significance of this movement. When we foster inclusion, we encourage the type of unconventional thinking that pushes boundaries, challenges limitations and drives progress."

About The 3% Conference (www.3percentconf.com)
Only 3% of all Creative Directors in advertising are women. In a world where women influence 80% or more of consumer spending, this is business suicide. The mission of The 3% Conference is to build the business case for diversity by championing female creative talent and leadership by offering content, community and professional development. Our movement includes: a 2-day conference in San Francisco on Nov 3-4, 2014; multi-city events throughout North America; a vibrant online community; a live Super Bowl event; a student scholarship fund; a creative award; and a business blog to support the crusade.
