CHICAGO, Jan. 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- What do Brad Pitt, David Bowie and Derek Rose have in common with U-Haul? They share a connection to GigRig, Inc.
GigRig, located at 1191 W. Lake St. in Chicago, supplies customized production motor homes and vehicles to the film industry. And now it offers U-Haul® cargo vans, trucks, trailers, dollies, boxes and after-hours drop-off as well.
GigRig is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. Reserve U-Haul items at this neighborhood dealer by visiting http://www.uhaul.com/Locations/Rentals, by contacting GigRig through its Web site at http://gigrigchicago.com or by calling (773) 696-4928.
By partnering with U-Haul, GigRig fills a need in the film business. Owner Kevin Footlik said that the film industry "has a demand for light truck and van use, and the combination of U-Haul and Gigrig provides a needed service to the industry."
Footlik, a native Chicagoan, previously worked as a freelance location scout for film and television projects. He scouted for "The Untouchables" TV series and "The Watcher" starring James Spader and Keanu Reeves, as well as photo shoots for world-famous photographer Annie Leibovitz.
GigRig was established in 2003 with one vehicle and has expanded to nine pieces of high-end equipment. The motor homes were developed by Footlik to service the film industry and are customized with hair, makeup and wardrobe stations.
Multitudes of notable clients have come to GigRig to use the motor homes, including actors Pitt and Jennifer Hudson, musical acts Bowie, Bon Jovi and Boston, and NBA star Rose. Though he has met many celebrities, Footlik sees them differently than the public.
"I consider them professionals, so I don't ask for autographs," Footlik said.
Footlik, however, has been able to build relationships through his jobs, including one that is very special to him.
"My biggest thrill in life was meeting and working with Muhammad Ali," he said, adding that he has enjoyed a lasting friendship with the Ali family.
Located three miles from downtown, GigRig participates in citywide events and readily supplies hospitality vehicles for Chicago's street festivals. It recently participated in the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival.
The surrounding neighborhoods are a mix of commercial and residential areas, allowing GigRig to serve a variety of customer needs through its U-Haul items.
GigRig is a great place to become U-Haul Famous. Take your picture in front of a U-Haul product, send it in and your face could land on the side of a U-Haul truck. Upload your photo through Instagram using #uhaulfamous, or go to www.uhaulfamous.com to submit photos and learn more.
