Morehead Memorial Hospital Goes Live with Thomson Reuters Clinical Xpert CareFocus
PHILADELPHIA and LONDON, Aug. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Morehead Memorial Hospital—a not-for-profit, 108-bed hospital in Eden, N.C.—has launched Thomson Reuters Clinical Xpert to improve care through real-time clinical surveillance and instant access to patient data.
Clinical Xpert, an award-winning mobile data system, gathers clinical data from across the hospital information system and delivers real-time patient data to any caregiver at the point-of -care through a web portal or mobile devices. Using CareFocus, one of the components of the Clinical Xpert suite, caregivers can quickly identify at-risk patients and respond immediately—improving care, saving lives, and reducing costs.
Geoff Lawson, chief information officer at Morehead Memorial Hospital, said: "Access to comprehensive patient data anywhere, anytime helps our clinicians make more informed decisions. Clinical Xpert CareFocus will help us improve response times, greatly reduce the incidence of medical errors and thereby improve outcomes."
Morehead originally identified Clinical Xpert as a way to manage scheduled and unscheduled system downtime. The solution allows continued access to clinical information even when the hospital information system briefly goes offline, ensuring clinicians have uninterrupted access to critical patient data. Recognizing the immediate impact CareFocus could have on patient safety and clinical quality, Morehead implemented the solution.
Named the KLAS Category Leader for Mobile Data Systems for eight consecutive years, Clinical Xpert helps providers improve clinical quality and patient safety while reducing treatment costs. Hospitals using Clinical Xpert CareFocus have reduced their mortality rate by as much as 30-plus percent, decreased sepsis mortality by more than 40 percent, and reduced medication cost by $39,000 a month.
