More Than One-Third of American Women Want a Dyson Over a Diamond This Valentine's Day
Research Shows That Unconventional Valentine's Day Gifts, Like a Dyson Vacuum, Can Be the Way Into Her Heart
CHICAGO, Feb. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The unthinkable has happened: more than one-third of women surveyed want a vacuum over a diamond this Valentine's Day. A high-end household appliance to a loved one as a Valentine's Day gift is not as controversial as once thought, according to a study by Caravan Opinion Research with support from Dyson.
Results from a national telephone survey of one thousand American women show that when it comes to receiving gifts on Valentine's Day, more than one-third prefer a Dyson vacuum over a diamond, a monthly cleaning service or even a massage.
Additional findings include:
- 74% would like a special dinner with their loved one
- 55% would like a spa treatment
- One-third would like weekly flowers sent to their home for a month (34%) or a designer pair of shoes or handbag (33%)
Also, more than two-thirds prefer to receive a practical gift they can use often – like a vacuum. Going the unconventional route may not be a bad idea.
Research shows that if given a vacuum as a gift, women would most like to receive a Dyson vacuum—the most of any competing brand surveyed.
Giving her something she can use proves that making her life easier is his priority. She wants something that is practical and will stand the test of time – just like him.
Dinner and a Dyson, anyone?
About Dyson technology
Home to over 300 engineers and scientists, Dyson is about engineering new and better technology. Dyson machines go through rigorous testing every day, pushing machines to their limit – vacuums are dropped onto hard floors over 5,000 times, prototypes run at temperatures ranging from 23 degrees F to 113 degrees F in Dyson's specially-designed environmental chamber. And Dyson vigorously protects its technology with over 1,200 patents and patent applications for over 250 inventions.
Other vacuums need replacement belts and filters – hard to find and can add up. Over five years the average maintenance cost could be $233. With Dyson there are no bags, filters or belts to buy. Dyson uprights and canisters are also guaranteed for five years, so they don't cost a dime to maintain.
