#mophieRescue Team Goes Bigger And Badder In 2016 Return To SXSW With Iconic St. Bernards And New Partner Indian Motorcycle®
mophie Opens "Bad to the Bone" Bar and Dispatches Rescues for Dying Mobile Batteries Via Motorcycles with Sidecars All While Raising Awareness for Dogs in Need of Adoption
ORANGE COUNTY, Calif., March 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- mophie—the #1 selling mobile battery case maker in North America(1), and innovator of power solutions for mobile devices—is teaming up with the St. Bernard Rescue Foundation once again to save mobile devices in Austin from low-battery life during SXSW Interactive along with the help of Indian Motorcycle® and Glympse®.
As a follow-up to the wildly popular effort at SXSW in 2015, the #mophieRescue Team is primed to reintroduce the now famous, mobile device saving St. Bernards and dispatch them from the mophie "Bad to the Bone Bar" presented by Indian Motorcycle® to navigate the streets of Austin in motorcycle sidecars. Each hour from noon to 6pm on March 11th through 13th, these lovable dogs will be seen cruising around, equipped with the latest mophie power reserve and ready to deliver juice to those desperate for extra battery life. Yet the more critical mission for the #mophieRescue Team involves driving mass awareness for the St. Bernard Rescue Foundation to help St. Bernards across the nation find loving homes and families.
"In all honestly, we really just wanted to play with the dogs again for a few days," said Ross Howe, VP of Marketing at mophie. "While it's important to promote mophie's uniqueness as a brand and benefits of our products, having the opportunity to prominently showcase these amazing animals is the biggest reason we returned with the Foundation. And in doing so, we knew we had to kick the spectacle up a few notches."
To get saved by the #mophieRescue Team while in Austin, tweet @mophie a photo of any mobile device in need of power along with your SXSW location using #mophieRescue. If selected, mophie will tweet back with a link to the @Glympse interactive map that tracks each St. Bernard in real-time while on the move to make the rescue. Upon the Team's arrival, the battery challenged winner will receive mophie product and a photo op with their furry rescuer.
Attendees can also visit with the dogs (including puppies) and meet their owners at the mophie Bad to the Bone Bar location, which is styled after a traditional biker bar and located at the corner of 5th Street and Trinity Street, a block away from the Austin Convention Center. Entry is free, and visitors will experience themed giveaways, hosted beverages, product demonstrations as well as photo opportunities with the dogs and Indian motorcycles positioned onsite.
"The St. Bernard Rescue Foundation is extremely happy to be back at SXSW with mophie for a second straight year," said Olive Ashwell, Marketing Manager for the St. Bernard Rescue Foundation. "mophie has shown an authentic passion in helping our organization gain national exposure. We couldn't wait to get back on the streets of Austin."
In celebration of the #mophieRescue Team's return to SXSW and new partnership with Indian Motorcycle®, a 2016 mophie Edition Indian® Scout® Sixty will be given away to one lucky winner. Visitors can enter to win the motorcycle on location at the Bad to the Bone Bar from March 11th-13th, or online at www.mophie.com/mophierescue starting March 8th through March 21st. The winner will be announced Wednesday, March 23rd via mophie social channels.
"We're proud to partner with mophie and the St. Bernard Rescue Foundation on this entertaining and meaningful activation at SXSW," said Reid Wilson, Marketing Director for Indian Motorcycle. "We think the fans there will be blown away by the beauty and craftsmanship of these custom bikes featuring Champion sidecars as part of this very worthwhile endeavor to rescue festivalgoers and to help rescue St. Bernards."
