Moonshot by Pactera Digital Publishes "Creating a Voice-Based Product with a Design Sprint"
Guide Shows Executives How to Minimize Cost and Risk of Developing Voice-Based Products
CHICAGO, Jan. 18, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Moonshot by Pactera Digital, an innovation outpost for digital products, released today Creating a Voice-Based Product with a Design Sprint, a guide that helps businesses minimize the risk and cost of developing products that incorporate voice-based interfaces.
Jeff Kirk, Moonshot founder and vice president, said, "Thanks to the explosive growth of voice-based products such as Amazon Echo, businesses are scrambling to figure out how to build products and customer experiences that incorporate the voice interface. But not all those products and experiences are going to succeed. Creating a Voice-Based Product with a Design Sprint gives businesses an approach for rapidly developing prototypes and testing them to ensure the creation of lovable products."
The report's publication is timely. According to the recently published Adobe Consumer Electronics Report, voice assistant sales achieved 103-percent year-over-year growth in 2017, and sales of voice-enabled smart speakers such as Amazon Echo and Google Home doubled in the fourth quarter of 2017 compared to the same period in 2016. According to research firm Forrester, smart speakers will be in over 66 million U.S. homes by 2022. Other analysts such as Morgan Stanley are even more bullish citing recent earnings reports from Amazon that support estimates of over 35 million for just the Echo portfolio of devices alone cumulatively shipped by the end of 2017.
"One of the major stories of CES 2018 was the fight between Amazon and Google to dominate a fast-growing ecosystem of products that rely on voice," Kirk said. "Voice-based products at CES ranged from connected cars to smart appliances. Voice is no longer a future trend, but voice has evolved so rapidly that businesses need help sensing and responding correctly. Noticeably absent from CES 2018 was Apple's Siri; we expect the strength of the Apple ecosystem to assert its presence during CES 2019. In the meantime, we're incredibly excited about the customer-centric ambient experiences to be created using Alexa and Google Assistant in 2018. If you haven't explored experiences using these AI assistants in 2017, you're late to the game, and your customers are already talking to you without results."
Based on Moonshot's client experiences and research, Creating a Voice-Based Product with a Design Sprint discusses how teams can use a test-and-learn approach based on the design sprint to develop a prototype for a voice-based minimum lovable product -- or the version of a new product a business can launch to create customer love with the least amount of effort and expense.
After reading the guide, executives will be better prepared to get started identifying how voice-based interfaces play into a business's product development strategies.
