Moody Gardens® To Celebrate the "Tinsel Anniversary" of Festival of Lights in Galveston

GALVESTON ISLAND, Texas, Oct. 24, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Holiday sights, sounds, smells and snow will fill the air at Moody Gardens from Nov. 18 to Jan. 1 during the tenth annual Festival of Lights.  Guests can attend the Grand Lighting on Nov. 12 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., where Santa Claus will parachute in to illuminate the mile-long, million-light trail, which is one of the largest and most popular holiday lighting events on the Gulf Coast.

Moody Gardens will commemorate the festival's tenth anniversary with more than 100 sound-enhanced, animated light scenes along the trail as well as live entertainment, holiday films and the area's only outdoor ice skating rink.  Guests can also take pictures with Santa and choose from a selection of holiday films in the MG 3D Theater.  In the spirit of tradition, Polar Express 4D will return to the 4D Special FX Theater for families to enjoy special effects like snow flurries and the delightful smell of hot chocolate.

On Food Drive Fridays, visitors will receive two admissions for the price of one when they bring a non-perishable food item, which will benefit the Galveston Food Bank.  Every Saturday, guests will experience a winter wonderland complete with snow -- a true phenomenon for Gulf Coast natives!  

The Festival of Lights will be open to visitors from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Nov. 18-19, 24-26, Dec. 1-3, 8-11 and daily from Dec. 15 through Jan. 1.

Families can also enjoy a winter feast at the Holiday Dinner Buffet at the Garden Restaurant or at the Imagine Christmas Dinner and Show at the Moody Gardens Hotel.  This Imagine Christmas holiday musical combines fine dining and a unique performance for the ultimate holiday experience.  Doors to Imagine Christmas open daily at 6:45 p.m. from Dec. 15 to 27.  Admission is $49 for adults and $29 for children 12 and under.
