Montparnasse Pasteleria Achieves Time and Attendance Transparency with Crossmatch U.are.U Fingerprint Readers
Mexico bakery chain eliminates employee fraud, ensures payroll integrity
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla., Nov. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Crossmatch™, a leading provider of biometric identity management solutions, announced today that its U.are.U® fingerprint readers have been deployed throughout Montparnasse Pasteleria, an upscale retail bakery chain in Central Mexico. The bakery chain implemented the Crossmatch biometrics-based solution in June 2014 to eliminate payroll issues caused by employees clocking in for each other.
Prior to installing the U.are.U fingerprint readers, Montparnasse relied on paper timecards and a mechanical time clock to track time and attendance for its workforce of approximately 400 employees throughout 15 bakery locations and a production factory. This rudimentary method of time and attendance tracking led to employees clocking in for each other which, in turn, caused inflated payroll issues for the bakery chain.
"The Crossmatch biometrics solution was just what our organization needed to improve employee accountability," said Ricardo M. Torres Menchaca, Montparnasse Pasteleria systems director. "We now know within seconds which employees are in each bakery and who is missing."
The U.are.U fingerprint readers have met all of the bakery chain's expectations. Now, Montparnasse employees clock in and out of their shifts simply by placing their finger on the fingerprint reader. Since fingerprints are inextricably tied to each individual, there is no longer the opportunity to clock in for each other.
The biometrics-based solution has also ensured the integrity of Montparnasse's payroll processing. In addition to having instant access to time and attendance reports, Montparnasse's human resources department now only pays employees for the hours they actually work.
Montparnasse developed its own time and attendance application that seamlessly integrates with the U.are.U fingerprint readers. The bakery chain is so pleased with its biometrics solution from Crossmatch that it is considering implementing biometrics for access to cash registers at its retail locations.
"We assist businesses with solving their identity management challenges through biometrics," said Richard Agostinelli, CEO of Crossmatch. "Our focus on biometrics-based identity solutions — combined with our deep experience in the retail industry — made Crossmatch the right partner to help Montparnasse eliminate the fraud they were experiencing."
