Moet Hennessy USA and The Charmer Sunbelt Group Partner to Promote the "We Don't Serve Teens" Campaign in New York City
NEW YORK, Oct. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Moet Hennessy USA, the leading importer and marketer of luxury wines, spirits and champagnes in the U.S., and The Charmer Sunbelt Group, one of the nation's leading distributors of fine wines and spirits, have joined forces to promote the "We Don't Serve Teens" campaign in New York City.
This important education campaign reminds parents and others that serving alcohol to teens is unsafe, illegal and irresponsible. The campaign is based on research showing that most teens who drink obtain alcohol from "social sources" such as friends, siblings or parents.
Founded by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and The Century Council, the "We Don't Serve Teens" campaign is supported by a large number of public and private organizations such as the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), the National Alcohol Beverage Control Association (NABCA), the National Conference of State Liquor Authorities (NCSLA) and the National Liquor Law Enforcement Association (NLLEA). Additional information and tools for parents and others is available on the FTC maintained website www.dontserveteens.gov.
Elements of the program in New York City include an extensive advertising campaign that will launch in October and continue through the end of the year. Placements have been secured across outdoor, print, online, and radio outlets. Point of sale materials carrying the message will also be distributed in liquor stores, fine wine shops, bars and restaurants. All the materials will feature the official FTC created "We Don't Serve Teens" message.
"The Charmer Sunbelt Group is devoted to fostering the legal, safe and responsible consumption of beverage alcohol," said Charles Merinoff, Chairman & CEO, The Charmer Sunbelt Group. "As parents and business owners, we must join together to help prevent underage drinking."
Jim Clerkin, President and CEO of Moet Hennessy USA said, "Speaking as a parent first, it is important to ensure we all play a role in educating parents and young people under 21 years old to observe the law and act responsibly. 'We Don't Serve Teens' is a great program that reinforces this message."
