—Moen's partnership with the East LA Community Corporation is part of national program in support of affordable housing for Hispanic families—
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Moen Incorporated, the #1 faucet brand in North America and the East LA Community Corporation (ELACC) a leading nonprofit organization in Los Angeles, join forces through a national program entitled "Alcanzando Suenos con Moen / Achieving your Dreams with Moen," designed to promote and support affordable and environmentally sensitive housing for Hispanic families. Moen is donating state-of-the-art and water-saving bathroom fixtures for 51 units at the Boyle Hotel-Cummings Block, plus additional fixtures for the mariachi and community centers.
To celebrate the partnership, ELACC and Moen will host a Welcoming Ceremony on Thursday, December 15th at 4:30 pm at Mariachi Plaza, corner of 1st and Boyle Avenue, during the organization's Holiday Festivities. Government officials expected to attend the ceremony include Councilmember Jose Huizar.
ELACC President Maria Cabildo said, "Moen's generous donation supports our high standard of quality housing by bringing top quality fixtures for our residents that will create a modern and comfortable living environment for them. We look forward to expanding our relationship with Moen as we continue to build homes to serve low-income families throughout our community."
Moen is committed to helping Hispanic families achieve the dream of owning their home and access to affordable housing through "Alcanzando Suenos con Moen," and has partnered with other nonprofits in New York City, Chicago, Miami, San Antonio, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Phoenix.
ELACC is a well-established 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has developed nearly 360 affordable housing units, organized community residents to advocate for change, and counseled low income individuals to build personal assets through homeownership, education, and building viable businesses. In 2006, ELACC purchased the Boyle Hotel located at 101-104 N. Boyle Street, and embarked on a multi-million dollar renovation of the 32-room hotel, a city landmark that for years has housed local mariachi musicians and families in the nearly 100% Hispanic neighborhood.
By summer of 2012, the Boyle Hotel-Cummings Block will be renovated into 31 units of affordable housing and a second 20-unit building, will rise next to the hotel. The two buildings will also hold space for a mariachi center, community center and 4,1,00 square feet of commercial space.
