MobileHelp® Announces MobileVitals™
Telehealth-lite Solution Provides Consumers with Ability to Monitor and Track Vital Signs Using Company's Medical Alert Technology
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Empowering its customers with a new solution to proactively address broader health management using its medical alert technology, MobileHelp®, a leader in mobile Personal Emergency Response System (M-PERS) solutions, today announced the launch of its MobileVitals™ telehealth platform.
In response to increased consumer demand to use technology for healthcare management, MobileVitals is a proactive, consumer-focused telehealth solution. With a full line of peripherals available for customers to track their vital signs,
MobileVitals offers the benefits of identifying trends in biometric data captured via technology already available through the existing MobileHelp medical alert system.
Customers will be able to take their vital signs from selected peripherals, collected through either the new Bluetooth® Smart Ready-enabled base station and/ or Smartphone with MobileHelp Connect® App. Data is then collected, tabulated and presented to customers through the MobileHelp Connect secure portal. Data will be available for the customer and any caregiver they authorize to view the information.
"Technology is enabling a new delivery system for healthcare, defined by people who have the technology they need to better manage their own health," said Robert Flippo, MobileHelp CEO. "To that end, MobileVitals brings together the benefits of reactive fall detection technology and proactive biometrics data collection, to empower our customers with critical information to help them – and authorized caregivers – understand vital aspects of their health and well-being, allowing for better- informed decisions."
Initial peripherals available through MobileVitals will include a weight scale, pulse oximeter, blood pressure cuff and glucometer, which will allow customers to proactively manage their health, as well as address chronic care issues. To begin tracking vital signs on a regular basis, customers only need to acquire the peripherals they wish to utilize from MobileHelp, and then use either the MobileHelp base station in the home or the M-PERS application on their smartphone to record their vital sign data. This information will then be available via the MobileHelp Connect web portal where it can be viewed securely online by the customer or authorized caregivers.
The system components – which include available peripherals, the MobileHelp Connect online portal, the in-home cellular base station, and/or the M-PERS application for smartphone – are designed to seamlessly integrate and update, providing the additional value of the activity tracking application while also providing the peace-of-mind emergency response function associated with automatic fall detection:
- Cellular Base Station: The Bluetooth Smart Ready cellular base station (for use in the home) allows customers to have access to emergency help and serves as the connection point between the new MobileVitals peripheral devices and MobileHelp Connect, syncing the collected biometric data from peripherals and relaying it to the MobileHelp Connect online portal for display purposes.
- M-PERS Application: A new application for smartphones, the M-PERS app allows customers to have access to emergency help should they need it, while also syncing all MobileVitals peripherals. This new M-PERS app will be compatible with the MobileHelp Bluetooth Fall Button, a wearable help button with automatic fall detection enabling users to get emergency help, even if their smartphone is out of reach.
- MobileHelp Connect: To access MobileVitals data as part of the MobileHelp Connect portal, customers merely need to sign in online or through the corresponding mobile app and select the application within the user-interface. Data from the peripherals can be viewed in graph format for selected periods of time, daily, weekly, monthly or yearly.
- MobileVitals Peripherals: Biometric Bluetooth Smart peripherals initially available through MobileVitals include: a weight scale, blood pressure cuff, pulse oximeter, and a glucometer.
MobileVitals will be utilized in pilot programs within the healthcare community in early Q2 2015, and available for general consumer purchase in late Q2 2015. Access via Smartphone MobileHelp Alert App will be available at a later date.
