Mobile Giving Foundation Helps National Wildlife Federation Protect Gulf-Region Wildlife Devastated by Recent BP Oil Spill
New Text-to-Give Campaign 'WILDLIFE' to 20222 Benefits More Than 400 Species of Affected Wildlife Through Activating Volunteer Response
SEATTLE, May 24 /PRNewswire/ -- The Mobile Giving Foundation (MGF), the pioneer of mobile giving dedicated to helping charitable organizations raise funds through the mobile channel, today announced that it is working in association with the National Wildlife Federation (NWF) to raise funds through a new mobile-giving campaign to benefit wildlife affected by the recent, ongoing BP oil spill.
Already one of the worst environmental disasters in the nation's history, more than 210,000 gallons of oil per day are gushing into what is already a fragile and vulnerable ecosystem, threatening the coastline, the region's fishing industry and more than 400 species of wildlife that are still recovering from Hurricane Katrina. Among many needs, funds raised enable NWF staff in their collaboration with local and national nonprofits, the organization's state affiliate network, and state and federal government agencies to help coordinate a meaningful volunteer response to the catastrophe.
"The more people we can get to spread our message, the more impact we can have to help wildlife affected by this senseless tragedy," said Jaime Matyas, executive vice president & chief operating officer of National Wildlife Federation. "Please tweet, post a Facebook link, send out e-mails and text messages. Get the word out to text WILDLIFE to 20222 right now. We need immediate support."
"Mobile giving continues to prove itself as a valuable addition to any fundraising campaign," said Jim Manis, chairman and CEO of the Mobile Giving Foundation (MGF). "We are proud to be part of the NWF's efforts to bring text donations to hundreds of animals in the area."
By texting WILDLIFE to 20222 via a mobile phone, a micro-donation of $10 will be sent to aid the wildlife affected by this tragedy as well as conserve and restore vital wetlands. One-hundred percent of the donation goes to the NWF Gulf Oil Spill Restoration Fund, and the donation appears as a charge on the phone bill, standard rates may apply.
The NWF mobile-giving campaign was designed by Merkle, a leading customer relationship marketing agency, and enabled by iLoop, creator of fast and easy solutions for mobile-marketing campaigns, mobile advertising, text and SMS mobile marketing, mobile-enabled websites, and more.
