National Competition Spotlights Wireless Apps and Products that Make a Difference
WASHINGTON, Sept. 19, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, Mobile Future officially launched The Mobileys, a national competition that seeks to spotlight and support early-stage wireless apps, services and products that significantly improve our everyday lives.
The first place prize is $10,000, the second place winner will receive $5,000 and a third place prize and People's Choice Award will each be offered in the amount of $2,500. Applications will be accepted through October 21, 2013 and winners will be announced in Washington, DC on December 11, 2013.
"Can your idea rise to our challenge? Does it harness mobile technologies and networks to create lasting social benefit? If so, we eagerly await your submissions," wrote Mobile Future Chairman Jonathan Spalter in an open letter issued to the U.S. wireless development community that was shared with technology incubators and networking groups across the country.
Applicants should be individuals or early stage start-ups that have either recently launched their nominated mobile app, service or other product or plan to do so within six months. Nominated products should be creative game-changers that harness the power of mobile technologies and wireless networks in new ways to create lasting social benefit.
Each entry will be evaluated by an official judging panel, which includes distinguished individuals from the worlds of tech, mobile, venture capital and angel funding.
"In the development community, a little money can go a long way," Spalter noted. "It is our hope that The Mobileys will help winners expand or develop their next game-changing contribution to the diverse public benefits that wireless innovation is making possible throughout our society. We're reaching out to developers, coffee shop coders, and dorm room entrepreneurs, and we're excited to shine a spotlight on the cutting edge of our mobile future."
