SAN ANTONIO, Oct. 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- With the launch of a primary care sales force on October 13, Mission Pharmacal Company is taking a significant step to better deliver its innovative healthcare products to more physicians and the people who need them. This focused expansion in primary care will help Mission fulfill its goal of reaching more people with our quality products one patient at a time.
At the start, the primary care sales team, comprised of experienced sales and pharmaceutical professionals, is focused on delivering select leading products in the southern, southeastern, and northeastern United States.
The team's initial product offerings to primary care providers (PCPs) include BINOSTO® (alendronate sodium) effervescent tablets for oral solution, Ferralet® 90 (90 mg dual-iron delivery), Uribel® (methenamine, sodium phosphate monobasic, phenyl salicylate, methylene blue, hyoscyamine sulfate), and Prednisolone Sodium Phosphate Oral Solution (25 mg prednisolone base per 5 mL). These prescription drugs, considered among the leaders in their respective classes, offer novel benefits and conveniences to patients experiencing common health conditions routinely seen by today's PCPs.
"With these great products in the hands of our intensively trained sales force, Mission is well equipped to support primary care practices," says Dan Kibbe, Senior Vice President, Pharmaceutical Division, Mission Pharmacal. "Our primary care team brings exceptional value through its knowledge of products, as well as fulfilling physician wants and needs related to complicated disease states. In turn, this helps PCPs provide innovative solutions for their patients."
As the primary care rollout progresses throughout 2015 and beyond, Mission will continue to expand this sales team, both by augmenting the existing territory footprints and also broadening into more areas of the country. The company intends to add to its primary care product offerings, particularly through new strategic business partnerships.
"We are very excited about this opportunity. This is the first wave. The primary care expansion gives us an opportunity to build from the ground up and take Mission to a whole new level," adds Kibbe. "The sky's the limit for Mission and our business partners."
With today's evolving healthcare market, the number of PCPs is growing rapidly. People are more likely than ever to visit a PCP before or in place of a specialist. In light of this, a dedicated primary care team will enable Mission to reach more patients and better fulfill unmet health needs. This strategic initiative complements and builds on the work of its specialty sales forces in the company's core commitment areas of women's health, urology, dermatology, and pediatrics.
The primary care sales representatives are employed by Alamo Pharma Services, a subsidiary founded by Mission Pharmacal in 2011. Headquartered in Doylestown, Pa., Alamo provides small- and medium-sized pharmaceutical companies with operational and human resources sales support.
Providing high level sales teams to successful organizations is of primary importance to Alamo Pharma Services. This most recent collaboration between Mission and Alamo demonstrates flexibility in the rapidly changing healthcare market, and provides a pathway to quickly deliver Mission's innovative solutions to more physicians and the people who need them.
"This expansion provides a nimble, flexible primary care sales force to broaden Mission's reach through PCPs who see all disease states and a much larger volume of patients than specialists," says Terry Herring, President, Commercial Operations, Mission Pharmacal Company. "This is a win-win for Mission, physicians, and consumers.
"Adding the primary care team also enables our specialty sales forces to really focus and tailor their support of specialist physicians. For example, Mission's women's health sales group now can expand their work with OB-GYNs to grow the prenatal vitamin business."
This primary care sales team will significantly enhance the effectiveness of Mission's commercial capabilities and continue to build the company's supportive care focus with physicians and patients. The new sales team, coupled with the specialty field forces, gives Mission a tremendous opportunity to realize the full potential of its commercial portfolio while helping deliver better healthcare solutions.
Prescription drugs may carry risks and are not suitable for every patient. Patients should ask their physician if these products are right for them. For full Prescribing Information about Mission's products, please visit missionpharmacal.com.
