Minerva Labs Offers Breakthrough Approach To Tackling Ransomware
Minerva's New Product Ensures Full Protection from Ransomware Attacks & Remediation for Encrypted Data
TEL AVIV, Israel, July 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
Minerva Labs, the anti-malware solution, today announced a new product, which affords organizations full protection against the growing threat of ransomware. Unlike other types of malware that may take time to execute, providing a brief window to detect the breach before damage is done, by the time a business detects it has been targeted by ransomware it's data has already been encrypted.
The unique offering utilizes Minerva's Environment Simulation Technology which prevents ransomware from execution, by simulating an environment that is unideal for the malware, causing it to refrain from execution.
As there are no fool-proof solutions in the world of cyber security, Minerva's new solution offers a holistic approach to ransomware, and includes a unique metfod for remediating any damage done by both known (Cryptolocker, Cryptowall, CTB-Locker, Teslacrypt, Locky) and unknown ransomware varients. Entrerprises have the ability to remediate encrypted files without relying on OS backup capabilities such as shadow copies or snapshots that can easily be disabled by the ransomware or as an organizational policy. The product supports any Microsoft-based operating system, whether workstation, server, legacy or virtual and has no impact on performance.
"Ransomware is undoubtedly one of the most serious and widespread issues in our industry, yet the available solutions have not lived up to the challenge," said Eddy Bobritsky, CEO and Co-founder of Minerva Labs. "What Minerva is offering is the first fully functional solution available that effectively protects against ransomware threats, both pre-emptively and post-infection. It"s a real game-changer."
Ransomware attacks are already widespread and very lucrative for cyber criminals targetting businesses, governments and high profile organizations. A single, sophisticated piece of ransomware can do enormous damage. Once a businesses' data is encrypted, it can only be restored using the decryption keys held by the attacker in return for paying a ransom. Ransomware is a perfect example of the failure of the 'Detection and Response' paradigm as by the time ransomware has been discovered, the user's data has already been encrypted.
"Minerva's solution is the first complete solution and we're proud to not only have an effective, innovative answer to this potentially devastating malware, but to help put an end to the terrible consequences it has," continued Bobritsky.
