Milton Hershey School Alum and Director of Safety and Security Honored With Catherine Hershey Awards
National awards honor outstanding staff, students and supporters in residential education
HERSHEY, Pa., Sept. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Milton Hershey School® (MHS) Senior Director of Safety and Security and the MHS 2014 valedictorian were both recently honored with the Catherine Hershey Residential Education Awards during the Coalition for Residential Education's (CORE) 14th Annual National Residential Education Conference hosted this week at MHS.
CORE honored MHS Senior Director of Safety and Security Rick Gilbert with the Catherine Hershey Administrator of the Year award. Gilbert has been instrumental in creating strategies to enhance safety at MHS. He has led several professional development opportunities on the MHS campus for local emergency responders. Gilbert also works with students in the Law, Safety and Security classes at the high school.
CORE also honored MHS 2014 Valedictorian Kayvon Asemani with the Student of the Year award. Asemani enrolled at MHS in fifth grade. He was an honor roll student and participated in sports and Student Government Association (SGA). During his senior year at MHS, Asemani earned college credits and served as SGA President. He is continuing his education studying accounting at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
