ATLANTA, Nov. 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Saturday, November 26, kicks off MERRY & BRIGHT AT PONCE CITY MARKET: Shop & Sleigh the Season, a month-long 2016 holiday spectacular hosted at the largest adaptive reuse project in the Southeast. Atlanta's beloved, must-visit destination in Old Fourth Ward neighborhood invites friends and family of all ages to make and share social media memories (use #PCMMerryandBright) during four weeks of over-the-top festivities, including The Grinch and his Who-ligans in residency, free photos with Santa, gift-wrapping, bag carriers and more shopping amenities at the Wrapper's Delight storefront, and much more.
Now owned by real estate company Jamestown, the building housing Ponce City Market was originally built in 1926 and previously occupied by Sears, Roebuck, & Co. Today, it houses 300,000 square feet of retail and restaurants, 259 residential flats, 550,000 square feet of office space and a boardwalk-style amusement park rooftop. Featuring holiday festivities and décor, a mix of retailers offering endless options for holiday shopping, and a nationally renowned Central Food Hall with restaurants and food stalls, Ponce City Market is a must-visit destination this holiday season.
MERRY & BRIGHT AT PONCE CITY MARKET will kick-off with The Grinch's grand arrival on November 26th. Throughout the day, selfie-stick-carrying Who-ligans of all talents (hula hoopers, acrobats, graffiti artists, and more) will roam the grounds and interact with shoppers. At 5:30pm, The Grinch will ceremoniously crash onto the property in his steampunk sleigh with entourage in tow, complete with an aerial and ground acrobatic performance as the Who-ligan crew flies from the Central Food Hall rafters! Later, the Grinch and his faithful performing dog will take up residence on his sleigh throne on Ponce City Market's second floor, where he will make his way back every Saturday and Sunday through December 18th.
Along with The "Mean One" himself, Santa will be in residence and available for (FREE) photos every Saturday leading up to Christmas Eve.
After crossing off items on their holiday gift list, shoppers can drop off presents at the Wrapper's Delight station to be adorned with merry and bright paper, holiday greenery, and festive garnishes, then carried to their vehicles. Throwback hip-hop holiday tunes will play alongside festive holiday breakdancers each Saturday and Sunday.
Ponce City Market and UBER have partnered to offer riders complimentary trips to and from Ponce City Market on Nov. 25th and 26th. Ponce City Market visitors can redeem complimentary rides by entering "PCMMERRYANDBRIGHT" when scheduling a car from within Uber's mobile app. The code will cover up to $15 on an uberx ride to or from Ponce City Market during regular business hours while supplies last. In addition, starting Nov. 27th and throughout the holiday season, visitors can receive a $10 Uber credit if they spend a total of $100 or more at any of Ponce City Market's shops or restaurants.
MERRY & BRIGHT AT PONCE CITY MARKET will top off with champagne on New Year's Eve, when Nine Mile Station, a newly opened beer garden on the building's rooftop, will host a black tie party for holiday revelers.
