Men's Wearhouse Donation Makes Prom Stylish and Affordable
Men's Wearhouse Donates Tuxedos for Prom at a Charter High School for Foster Care Students
PHILADELPHIA, May 31, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Going to the prom can cost students as much as $1,000 for the dress, the tuxedo, the dinner, the ride, the tickets, and the corsages and boutonnieres. But, for a high school where the students are all from foster care, even a budget prom can be out of reach. Enter Men's Wearhouse to donate tuxedo rentals to all the young men.
"This is the second year Men's Wearhouse outfitted the young men of Arise Academy, we are thrilled to help make their prom dreams come true," said Tamara Osheroff, Men's Wearhouse's director, formalwear marketing. "It's our mission to make special occasions stylish and comfortable."
The juniors and seniors of Arise Academy Charter High School dropped by a special "prom shop" in their school last week, a Men's Wearhouse representative measured them for tuxedos, had them try on jackets and choose a head-to-toe look, complete with accessories, for the prom, which had a "Masquerade in Paris" theme this year.
"Prom is such an important milestone for students," said Osheroff. "And we love helping men look fabulous for formal and business occasions, so it's natural to share our expertise with Arise Academy students. We're happy to donate tux rentals to make their prom fun and fashionable."
When it comes to prom and other formal occasions, the more than 900 Men's Wearhouse locations have more than 2,000 style and color combinations available, so the Arise Academy students had plenty of choices to help them achieve their dream look. But in terms of prom budgeting, the choices were much easier. Not only did Men's Wearhouse donate tuxedo rentals, but several other donors offered dresses, transportation, flowers, and even the prom venue.
"Without Men's Wearhouse and our other wonderful sponsors, our students wouldn't be able to have such a beautiful prom," said Judy Rappaport, co-founder of the prom shop. "They have overcome disadvantaged backgrounds to stay in school, and we want them to have every experience to the fullest."
Arise Academy addresses the significant academic and behavioral needs of foster teens and young adults by providing an intensive focus on removing stigma and barriers to success, overcoming personal obstacles, and creating a supportive environment that empowers young people for the first time in their lives as they work to fulfill their goals.
