MEN'S FITNESS Announces Expansion of The Ultimate Athlete Games to Establish the Definitive Test of Fitness!
Ultimate Athlete Games measures a participant's speed, strength and agility on three timed sprint challenge courses.
NEW YORK, April 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- MEN'S FITNESS today announced the expansion of their Ultimate Athlete Games. For the first-time ever, multiple events will be held at the Sandwich Fairgrounds near Chicago, IL and in Tuxedo Park, New York. The Games were created by the editors and experts of MEN'S FITNESS as the ultimate test for fitness based on strength, speed, and agility in an effort to find America's Ultimate Athlete.
The events provide a unique departure from the saturated field of run-themed events in the market. There is no mud or electricity, no colored dyes or zombies. Instead, Colorado-based Adventure Fit collaborated with MEN'S FITNESS to design an event that stands apart from the current crop of events and sets the bar and defines what it means to be 'fit.'
"MEN'S FITNESS has established itself as the go to brand for driven and successful men who are constantly looking for the new measure of success," said Patrick Connors, MEN'S FITNESS Vice President and Publisher. "The Ultimate Athlete Games continues to be an extremely successful program and we're pleased to partner with new and returning sponsors such as Gillette, Jamba Juice, Skechers, Smith & Forge, EAS, Oberto, Pelican and Arctic Ease."
The Ultimate Athlete Games feature three-timed Challenge Courses, each between one-quarter and one mile long and packed with up to 10 obstacles. The speed course integrates obstacles like ladders and fast crawls, the strength course features taxing challenges such as monkey bars and tricep walks, and the agility course pushes competitors to their limit with progressive jumps and body high hurdles. Participants are challenged to complete all three in the shortest time possible. Prizes are awarded for top males, females, and teams. The person with the best combined time on all 3 Challenge Courses will win the title of 'The Ultimate Athlete" in each city, taking home $2500 cash and a feature in MEN'S FITNESS magazine.
Josh Kravetz, President of Adventure Fit notes, "The UAG answers the question that so many athletes want to know: 'How do I stack up?' It will be great for male and female athletes of all sports to see how they fare against the course, as well as each other, to see who truly is the Ultimate Athlete."
The first of two Ultimate Athlete Games will be held at the Sandwich Fairgrounds near Chicago, IL on July 19, 2014. Tuxedo Ridge Ski Area in New York will host the second on October 18th. Registration is now open at http://www.ultimateathletegames.com.
To help participants prepare for the event's unique challenges, the experts at MEN'S FITNESS and HUMANFITPROJECT have created training plans designed to improve overall fitness for athletes of all abilities available at mensfitness.com.
