Memorial Blood Centers - Raising Money for Local Students at this Year's "What's Your Type?" Fundraiser

DULUTH, Minn., Oct. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Memorial Blood Centers continues to give back to the community by educating local youth. It provides Blood Drive Workshops and Scholarship opportunities to local high school students. Our goal is to increase the number of students who participate in the High School Blood Drive Workshops, and to increase the number of scholarships available to Northland students for the 2011-2012 school year. During the 2010-2011 school year, Memorial Blood Centers is seeking the community's support to offer 8 scholarships for Northland area students. The programs are in need of funding and Memorial Blood Centers is turning to the Northland community for assistance.

"We want to educate future leaders and assist them in giving back to their community in a variety of ways," says Tania McVean, Memorial Blood Centers' Community & Hospital Coordinator. "Anyone donating to the event or attending will be doing their own part in giving back."

Memorial Blood Centers is cordially inviting the community to their 8th annual benefit themed "What's Your Type?" This year's event will showcase a variety of Northland food favorites, have silent and live auction items and, of course, blood typing. Guests are welcomed back to Greysolon Ballroom by Blackwoods where live music and a Signature Drink by Black Water will be provided. Funds raised will go towards the education of local youth through their high school blood drive workshops and Northland student scholarships.
