Meijer Donates up to $400,000 to Local Children's Charities Across the Midwest
Retailer, Fisher-Price toys Share the Joy to make holiday season bright for hundreds of kids
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Nov. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Meijer is sharing the joy this holiday season by donating the amount customers save this month from their Fisher-Price mPerks coupons, up to $400,000, to local children's toy- and gift-giving charities throughout the Midwest.
"Meijer wants to help make the holidays happier for hundreds of children, because every child deserves to experience the joy of unwrapping a toy," said Adam Whitney, toy merchandise manager for Meijer. "We know how much value our customers place on sharing their good fortune, and we believe this partnership with Fisher-Price, and our customers, will create lasting memories for children in need."
For every Fisher-Price mPerks digital coupon redeemed, Meijer will donate that amount, up to $400,000, to toy- or gift-giving charities within the retailer's five-state footprint of Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky. The local charities selected will be determined by the individual Meijer stores to ensure the donations remain within their local community.
The Meijer Share the Joy campaign runs through Nov. 30 and will feature dozens of mPerks digital coupons on hot Fisher-Price toys geared at children ages 6 months and older. For example, customers have the opportunity to clip the following digital coupons:
- $10 off the Laugh & Learn Table
- $5 off the Imaginext Batcave
- $5 off the Rainforest Friends Musical Lion Walker
- $3 off the Giggle Gang assortment
"Meijer was built on a fundamental philosophy of supporting the communities where our customers and team members work and live, which is why we donate more than 6 percent of our net profit to charities each year," Whitney said. "Our ultimate goal this holiday season is to help our customers save money while still enjoying the tradition of gift giving whether those gifts are for loved ones or for children in their community who might otherwise go without."
Meijer launched mPerks in the fall of 2010 as a way to help customers save money at the register by offering a faster – and more convenient – way to clip coupons. Customers can sign up at mperks.com and then preview and select coupons for their favorite national or Meijer own brand products that are stored in their personal mPerks account until redeemed or expired. The applicable coupons are instantly redeemed when shoppers enter in their mobile phone number, which serves as the mPerks account number, at checkout.
