LINCOLN, Mass., June 5, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Friday, June 12, 2015, Campaign 1776 and the American Revolution Institute of the Society of the Cincinnati will host a news conference at Minute Man National Historical Park (NHP) to announce a national fundraising campaign to preserve and study the historic "Parker's Revenge" battlefield.
Parker's Revenge is a little-known but important engagement fought between Lexington militia and British regulars in the afternoon of April 19, 1775 – the first day of the American Revolution.
Jim Lighthizer, president of the Civil War Trust and its Campaign 1776 initiative, and Jack Warren, executive director of the Society of the Cincinnati, will be representing the two organizations at the event. They will be joined by Robert Morris, president of Friends of Minute Man National Park, and Nancy Nelson, Superintendent of Minute Man NHP.
The June 12 news conference will be held at the National Park Service's Minute Man Visitor Center, located at 250 North Great Road, Lincoln, Mass., beginning at 10:00 a.m. EDT.
