McNeil Consumer Healthcare Announces Innovation To Help Consumers Outsmart Seasonal Symptoms
New HEALTHYDAY App Introduced at New York Internet Week Helps Consumers Prepare for and Manage Cold, Flu and Allergy Seasons
FORT WASHINGTON, Pa., June 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- McNeil Consumer Healthcare Division of McNEIL-PPC, Inc. today launched HEALTHYDAY, an app designed to take the guess work out of managing cold, flu and allergy symptoms. The latest innovation in its mobile healthcare offering, HEALTHYDAY was launched at New York City's Internet Week as part of McNeil's ongoing commitment to help consumers more simply identify and manage certain health symptoms.
HEALTHYDAY helps consumers by gathering data from the same trusted sources used by doctors and hospitals. Using a patent-pending algorithm, HEALTHYDAY cross-references this information with localized, crowd-sourced data to determine what people in your neighborhood might be feeling – whether it's an outbreak of flu or seasonal allergies.
"HEALTHYDAY is a great example of our commitment as a company to go beyond the pill to provide support and relief to the consumers we have the privilege to serve," said Denice Torres, President of McNeil Consumer Healthcare. "Our goal is to truly make a difference in peoples' lives – by helping them feel better and to get back to their daily activities. HEALTHYDAY puts health information in the consumer's hands to help them more easily manage seasonal symptoms."
HEALTHYDAY offers an "Illness Alerts" feature that acts like an early warning system to show when common illnesses are trending in a local area, allowing people to take appropriate precautions. If someone becomes ill, the HEALTHYDAY 30 Second Solutions takes the "search" out of health by delivering easy to understand answers to common health questions, simplifying the path to feeling better. The 30 Second Solutions includes advice on everything from how to reduce allergy symptoms in the house to ways to avoid dryness after washing your hands in the winter.
"Despite living in a digital age, no one else has yet addressed these common health issues in a mobile format," says Sumeet Narula, Digital Brand Manager, McNeil Consumer Healthcare. "Through the HEALTHYDAY app, we're serving as a trusted sponsor of aggregated information from respected sources so that we can help consumers and enable them to feel confident they're making better decisions about their health."
HEALTHYDAY is not the first technology-based tool introduced by McNeil Consumer Health designed to educate consumers about their wellness choices to help them feel better. Other digital assets include the ZYRTEC® ALLERGYCAST® app which helps track allergy symptoms as well as Kids' Wellness Tracker, a tool for parents to help manage their children's' health, brought to you by the Children's TYLENOL® & Children's MOTRIN® Brands.
HEALTHYDAY is a whole new way to outsmart cold, flu and allergy season. Starting on June 9th, download the app at https://goo.gl/RaFgWx.
