LEHI, Utah, March 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Matrix42 (www.matrix42.com), a leading provider of Workplace Management solutions, today announced it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the Visionaries quadrant of the Magic Quadrant for Client Management Tools. Gartner evaluated vendors based on completeness of vision and ability to execute in the IT systems management market, and Matrix42 was recognized as a visionary based on Gartner's evaluation of "completeness of vision" and "ability to execute." According to the report, "Visionaries have vision scores that reflect feature-complete products, and they show technology leadership in providing some life cycle management functions users have begun requesting, or will have an impact during the next year or two (as discussed in the Completeness of Vision section). A Visionary will have particular strengths in certain emerging areas (e.g., mobile device management, Mac management, appliances, SaaS or desktop virtualization), but may lack a fully mature life cycle management solution, a global market presence or brand recognition."

"We believe our visionary status reflects our ultimate mission: to empower a corporate IT strategy where a satisfied workforce is the end-goal," said Herbert Uhl, CEO of Matrix42. "But today we are established as a midmarket leader in workplace management solutions because we are the only vendor to provide management for all forms of end-user computing devices – physical, virtual and mobile. We help organizations meet user demands for freedom, flexibility, and mobility because we provide a user-centric approach, while allowing IT to remain in control."
The number of user-owned devices entering the enterprise has led to new industry acronyms like BYOD (Bring Your Own Device). In fact, Gartner changed the name of this longtime quadrant from "PC Configuration Life Cycle Management Market" to "Client Management Tools Market" to reflect the growing variety of devices IT organizations now support, such as mobile devices (mainly iOS and Android) and Macs. Furthermore, Magic Quadrant references stated that mobile device management (MDM) was a critical need and the most important area of improvement for vendor products, and that currently, fewer than half of the vendors in this market have MDM capabilities for iOS and Android.
Added Uhl, "The rise of various smartphones, tablets, and software platforms in the workplace has added much complexity to managing IT. Organizations are looking for a single solution to provide MDM capabilities with any service to any device, to offer virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) capabilities, and to help retain operational standards, efficiency, and compliance. Matrix42 is the only vendor to provide all of these services, and is uniquely positioned to help customers manage this new work standard."
Matrix42 currently manages more than six million devices on behalf of more than 2,500 customers worldwide.
