MassMutual Retirement Services Promotes 401(k) Day and National Save for Retirement Week
RetireSMART-101 Launched This Week
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Sept. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- MassMutual Retirement Services is joining forces with the retirement industry to increase retirement savings awareness and education. National 401(k) Day and National Save for Retirement Week signify the importance of saving for retirement and encourage participants to take action regarding their personal retirement savings.
MassMutual Retirement Services is supporting these two significant events with the launch of its customized multimedia education series, RetireSmart-101 and accompanying web site, www.retiresmart101.com. Designed for MassMutual's participants and non-participants alike, RetireSmart-101 consists of seven 30-minute course modules to educate individuals on each of the core principles of retirement planning:
1) Learning
2) Saving
3) Allocating
4) Consolidating
5) Planning
6) Guidance
7) Pre-retirement.
"The RetireSmart-101 course provides a fun and interactive experience while the two webinars acknowledge two important aspects of retirement planning," says E. Heather Smiley, chief marketing officer for MassMutual's Retirement Services Division. "This unique program aims to help participants take action with regards to their personal retirement savings while providing important planning education along the way," adds Smiley.
Participants who complete the RetireSmart-101 course series by October 31, 2011 will receive a Certificate of Completion and be entered into a drawing to win an Apple iPod shuffle.
MassMutual's activities also include two web-based RetireSmart(SM) participant seminars, educational guides, a retirement readiness checklist, and an investor risk tolerance quiz. The first seminar, "Managing & Maximizing Your 401(k) Today...And Tomorrow" will take place on Wednesday, September 21 at 12:00 p.m. ET. During the 30-minute presentation, special guest Farnoosh Torabi will explain how investing in a 401(k) plan can help Americans better prepare for retirement. Specifically, she will cover the advantages of investing in a 401(k), strategies based on age and risk tolerances and the difference an early start can make. The session will conclude with information on catch-up provisions for those participants over 50 years of age followed by a 30-minute interactive question and answer session. MassMutual Retirement Services will also share information about RetireSmart-101 and planned events via Facebook.
