MassMutual Readies New 'State-of-the-Art' RetireSmart(SM) Statement for Retirement Plan Participants
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- MassMutual's Retirement Services Division has announced plans to introduce its new RetireSmart(SM) participant statement later this year. Highlights of MassMutual's new RetireSmart statement include:
- New, participant-friendly design incorporates specific input on layout and content provided by MassMutual participants and sponsors.
- Participants with multiple defined contribution plan accounts administered by MassMutual under the same sponsor will receive a single statement that provides information on all of the accounts.
- The investment performance section includes gross and net expense ratios.
- In addition to a front-page activity summary and investment performance data, new detail requested by participants has been added on contributions, account activity and beneficiaries.
- A new RetireSmart section of the statement includes messaging designed to help participants make more informed saving and investing decisions based on their specific needs. Colorful icons (Allocate, Consolidate, Plan, Save) help participants identify important action steps to consider related to contributions, investments and plan activity.
- A "green" e-delivery option is available to preserve resources, facilitate storage, and provide easy access and ease of sharing electronically with trusted parties such as the participant's financial advisor.
- Participants will be able to view their current statement by logging into The Journey(SM), MassMutual's participant Web site.
"We believe our new RetireSmart participant statement offers the most intuitive and actionable participant experience available in the market today," says E. Heather Smiley, vice president and chief marketing officer, MassMutual Retirement Services Division. "We did extensive usability testing and have incorporated feedback from those tests to make the statement not just an informative tool but one that drives appropriate action specific to a participant's needs.
"DALBAR has already reviewed the prototype and has indicated that we stand to earn the DALBAR seal once we are in production, which is fantastic news," adds Smiley. The DALBAR Communications Seal is the recognition awarded to financial services communications that display excellence in meeting the needs of customers.
The launch of MassMutual's new RetireSmart participant statement represents the next phase of MassMutual's RetireSmart participant communication platform which is designed to deliver the most rewarding participant education experience available in the market. MassMutual's RetireSmart platform also includes RetireSmart Academy, a robust participant education Web site introduced earlier this year as well as MassMutual's new RetireSmart enrollment, transition, and investment change materials.
MassMutual participants will receive the newly-designed statement automatically as part of their standard quarterly statement mailing later in 2010.
