MAPIC 2010 Inaugurates Its Trends Lab

PARIS, Nov. 8, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- For its 16th edition, MAPIC is launching the 'MAPIC Lab,' a laboratory that tracks trends in retail real estate. This new facility will offer a unique opportunity for MAPIC participants to discover the latest consumer trends shaping tomorrow's shopping experience.
"Changes in consumer behaviour tend to inspire retailers to think about new models that come closer to consumer expectations," says MAPIC Director Nathalie Depetro. "In this perspective, the 'MAPIC Lab' will give a taste of these developments by offering, for the first time, a study of five major market trends: proximity, interactivity, accountability, diversity, and exclusivity."
These key themes will be illustrated by four innovative French retailers who will speak at a series of round tables. On this occasion, the Paris MERCI store will present its philanthropic concept dedicated to fashion and the home. La Monnaie de Paris (the Paris mint) will unveil its newly rehabbed site, called 'MetaLmorphoses'. La Petite Robe Noir - Didier Ludot will introduce its concept store that offers customers unique, bespoke dresses at attractive prices. Les Galeries Lafayette will report on its special 'Fashion is you' event launched on September 30. For the first time this year, this major retail chain has risen to the challenge of organizing one of the world's largest fashion shows by inviting its own customers to participate.
As an extension of this dialogue centre, the 'MAPIC Lab Magazine,' published in partnership with INfluencia*, will offer a roundup of interactive and educational information on the latest market trends. Events, videos, articles, in-depth specials by experts and interviews, including opinions from international professionals, will provide a key to the new behavioural codes of the latest generation of consumers. This magazine will be available online at the MAPIC website, from November 08.
