MASCPA said the agreement is designed to connect its more than 350 members, who are located in South Central Pennsylvania and Northern Maryland, with an electricity provider that offers not only competitive prices and services, but also a range of additional benefits designed to enable members to better manage energy costs and usage.
GDF SUEZ Energy Resources is the second-largest provider of non-residential retail energy services in the United States. Within Pennsylvania, it currently serves commercial and industrial customers in the PPL and Duquesne territories, and recently began pricing in the PECO, MetEd, Penelec, and Allegheny West Penn Power regions, where rate caps expire at the end of 2010.
"We are pleased that our members will be able to partner with a financially strong, proven provider like GDF SUEZ Energy Resources," said Dana Dehoff, Vice President of Operations. "The deregulated market poses a number of challenges for businesses in our region, and GDF SUEZ has a track record of helping customers navigate those challenges and take advantage of new opportunities that exist in a competitive environment."
David Braun, Regional Vice President of the PJM market for GDF SUEZ Energy Resources, added, "We're proud to serve MASCPA and its members. We have a lot of experience providing businesses in this region with the products and services they need to make sound, strategic energy decisions, and we look forward to sharing that same knowledge with Association members."
MASCPA and its members will be able to choose from GDF SUEZ Energy Resources' portfolio of competitively priced electricity services, including energy efficiency programs and demand response products. Additionally, GDF SUEZ Energy Resources will develop members-only educational materials -- such as a dedicated Web site -- and provide a series of exclusive group presentations and round table forums.
