Manning Brothers and 'Double Trump' Face-Off for the Future of the Oreo Double Stuf Racing League (DSRL)
Foursome To Lick Race on Jan. 24; Oreo To Give Away FREE Cookies at Facebook.com/Oreo IF Mannings Win
NEW YORK, Jan. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Let the countdown begin! In less than two weeks – on Sunday, Jan. 24 – Oreo Double Stuf Racing League (DSRL) veterans Peyton and Eli Manning will take on Donald J. Trump and his partner, comedian and actor Darrell Hammond, in a lick race with the highest stakes the brothers have faced yet: the very future of the popular twisting, licking and dunking league.
Last fall, Mr. Trump challenged the quarterback brothers to lick-off for the DSRL after Oreo rejected his bid to buy the league. The Mannings accepted and Oreo announced the lick race will be shown in a new advertisement airing on TV and online on Jan. 24. The outcome of the race will determine the fate of the League; if "Double Trump" out-licks the Mannings in the "Battle for the DSRL," Mr. Trump will become the League's first owner. A Mannings victory means the DSRL will remain a "League of the people."
As if that wouldn't be reason enough for fans to celebrate, Oreo has made it even more interesting. The brand announced today that if the Mannings win, they'll celebrate by giving away up to 150,000 coupons for packages (a "stadium's worth") of FREE Golden Double Stuf Oreo cookies to fans of its Oreo Facebook Fan Page while supplies last on January 25, 2010. The giveaway offer will begin on January 25, 2010 at 3 p.m. EST and end at 11:59 p.m. EST.
"My brother and I are committed to ensuring the DSRL stays a League open to the people, so we've been busy practicing our twist, lick and dunk techniques," said Peyton Manning. "Mr. Trump may have a fierce competitive nature, but my brother and I know a thing or two about friendly competition."
"I have every confidence that my partner and I will walk away winners on Jan. 24th," said Mr. Trump. "I usually get what I want and I want the Oreo Double Stuf Racing League."
"Sweet" Stakes With a "Golden" Payout for Oreo Fans
Fans can tune in to the Battle for the DSRL on Jan. 24 during football games that day or by visiting www.facebook.com/Oreo. If the Mannings win, fans can return to the Oreo Facebook Fan Page beginning at 3 p.m. EST the next day (Monday, Jan. 25) to take part in the free cookie giveaway. People will only need to be a fan to register for the offer. The "stadium" will fill and the 150,000 coupons for free packages will go quickly, so fans are encouraged to get to the page fast.
While visiting the Oreo Facebook Fan Page, fans also can enter a sweepstakes to win a trip to meet the Manning brothers, view behind-the-scenes videos from the making of the ad with Mr. Trump, his partner, Hammond and the Manning brothers, as well as check out sneak previews and new Oreo product news.
Twisting, Licking and Dunking Tradition
The Oreo Double Stuf Racing League (DSRL) officially launched two years ago in January 2008. It's a fun activity that family and friends can enjoy together, in which people race to see who can finish an Oreo Double Stuf cookie and glass of milk the fastest. Each person twists their cookie open and licks off all the creme. Then, each person shows their cookie to their opponent, dunks it, eats it and drinks the glass of milk. The first to finish twisting, licking and dunking wins!
