Malware Expert, Jake Williams, to Provide Tips for Discovering Software Vulnerabilities at SANS Institute's Seattle Cyber Security Training Event
Will Share How DLL Side Loading Works and How to Recognize It
BETHESDA, Md., Aug. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- SANS Institute, the global leader in information security training, today announced SANS Seattle 2015 taking place October 5 - 10. This security training event will feature hands-on immersion style training as well as bonus evening talks addressing the latest cyber security challenges. Vulnerability discovery with DLL side loading, mobile device security and Windows 10 and Server 2016 are just some of the issues that will be addressed.
"Odds are, a company uses at least some custom developed software. Of course there was a budget for the development - but was there budget for a security review? Probably not," said Williams (@MalwareJake). "I regularly find that developers and security teams alike are blissfully unaware of DLL path hijacking and DLL side loading attacks. Both of these attacks primarily target software deployment rather than development and can lead to attacks on even the most secure code. Join me at SANS Seattle where I will share insight into how these attacks work and how to recognize them."
All of the courses offered at SANS Seattle are associated with a GIAC Certification. Students participating in these courses will be able to put in to practice what they learn immediately upon returning to work. Courses are available for both newbies and highly seasoned security professionals. Courses offered include SEC401: Security Essentials Bootcamp Style, SEC501: Advanced Security Essentials - Enterprise Defender, SEC504: Hacker Tools, Techniques, Exploits and Incident Handling, SEC505: Securing Windows with PowerShell and the Critical Security Controls, SEC575: Mobile Device Security and Ethical Hacking, and FOR508: Advanced Digital Forensics and Incident Response.
