Makeable Announces New "Make It or Break It!" Opportunity for Designers and Developers to Earn a Seat at the Company
Part Innovation Academy, Part Incubator and Bootcamp, Three-Month Process is Designed to Introduce People to Makeable's Approach, Process and Team
NEW YORK, May 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Makeable – a leading independent business, product and brand innovation company in New York – has announced the creation of a three-month program, "Make It or Break It!" The program provides the opportunity for entry-level designers and developers to become part of Makeable's innovative brand strategy team while providing the company a deeper look into candidates' passion and capability of connecting design and technology to create value by "Making Things, Not Noise." Only those candidates who commit to and successfully complete the program will be considered for entry-level positions with the company.
"Our 'Make It or Break It!' program is about understanding, building and demonstrating the skills needed to make it at Makeable," stated Michael Kantrow co-Founder of Makeable. "Throughout the course, candidates will complete seven tasks and milestones, ultimately leading up to the last step of shipping their product to the client – what should be a very proud moment. We're excited to see what everyone brings to the table."
The seven milestones of the "Make it or Break It!" program include:
1. Make: Your Case: Candidates must demonstrate one thing they are dying to Make and why. The possibilities are endless – candidates should do what they think will get them noticed.
2. Make: Your Introduction: Candidates will be expected to introduce themselves to the team by making a compelling and creative presentation, setting the stage and introducing themselves to peers and the Makeable team. Makeable team members will be looking for candidates that inspire them to be a mentor throughout the process.
3. Make: Your Knowledge: Candidates should be on top of the most interesting, disruptive, innovative or otherwise inspiring digital, technical and creative products across any and every industry and category. Those participating will be asked to find something, learn about it and create a ten to twenty minute presentation to share with the Makeable Team.
4. Make: Your Foundation: Candidates will be provided a series of tasks – Make things. Make assets. Make code. Make a presentation. Make research. Make a template. Deviate from it intelligently.
5. Make: Your Moodboard: Past moodboards will be provided for candidates to discuss, learn and ask questions about them. Those still participating will then be briefed on a client or company project and be asked to design a moodboard for the project.
6. Make: Your Prototype: Those with successful moodboards will be asked to design and deliver a working prototype of something from a moodboard. Make it come to life, in whatever form best suits the concept.
7. Make: Ship Your Product!: Candidates will ship their products during the last week of the program. Those that successfully pass each of these milestones will be offered entry-level jobs at Makeable.
Submissions for the program are due by May 30, 2014. For a full list of requirements, to learn more about the "Make It or Break It" program or to submit an application, visit: http://www.itsmakeable.com/make-it-or-break-it/
