Lynne Scarboro Promoted to New Chief Administrative Officer Post at LMU
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 13, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Loyola Marymount University President Timothy Law Snyder, Ph.D., today announced the promotion of Lynne Scarboro to chief administrative officer, overseeing the university's administration and business operations.
Scarboro, senior vice president for administration, will transition into the newly created position on Jan. 1.
During her 15 years of leadership at LMU, Scarboro has been responsible for the administrative areas and resources serving the university's core operating needs – including information technology, human resources, facilities management, parking and transportation, conference and event services, public safety and security – and the planning and construction of campus facilities. Under her direction, LMU has embarked on major capital projects and celebrated the completion of the William H. Hannon Library, the Von der Ahe Welcome Center and most recently, the Life Sciences Building, which continues to earn accolades for its "green" design elements, among other awards and recognition.
"I am honored to take on this new role and lead an integrated operations organization. I am proud of what we have accomplished, and I am confident we will build momentum as we pursue President Snyder's vision of global imagination," said Scarboro. "These are exciting times for LMU: we are expanding our presence in Silicon Beach and we are strengthening our nationally and internationally ranked academic programs. The organizational changes position LMU to take greater advantage of the opportunities ahead."
In an announcement to the LMU community, Snyder said that the changes will encourage organizational innovation and ensure the university thrives in the competitive higher education marketplace. Snyder's decision moves the university's operations and business enterprises under Scarboro's management, providing its academic leadership more time to continue developing the university's world-class student learning experience. LMU is currently searching for an executive vice president and provost to succeed Joseph Hellige. Scarboro's expanded role will add the university's business and finance organization to her existing operational responsibilities.
"Lynne Scarboro is poised to serve in this broader leadership role on campus, where she is widely respected for her creativity and determination. Lynne has an impressive track record of strategic and operational accomplishments, and she has a reputation for developing imaginative professionals, reinvigorating operational excellence, and instilling trust and confidence," Snyder said. "I am pleased Lynne will serve in this critical role, as she will continue to be instrumental in LMU's pursuit of global reach and global impact as our inaugural chief administrative officer."
Prior to joining LMU, Scarboro served for seven years as associate vice president and chief operating officer for the Office of Alumni and University Relations at Georgetown University, and she has also served in administrator roles at North Carolina State University and the University of Virginia. She holds a B.S. degree from North Carolina State University and an M.B.A. from Winthrop University.
Scarboro serves on the Board of Directors for Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles and is a member of the Organization of Women Executives, Los Angeles.
