NEW YORK, Feb. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- waggle, the first cross-platform brand dedicated to dog owners and the dogs they love, has officially rolled out its first two products: its waggle iOS app and editorial site www.waggle.today. Integrating design, data and technology, waggle enables people to share an active, healthy and social lifestyle with their dogs through several products and services that will be launched throughout 2015.
waggle's first product is an iOS social discovery app that recommends nearby dog-friendly locations, tracks walk and play activities, and helps dog owners find playmates for their dogs. The app is now available for free in the Apple App Store. The app's current feature set includes:
- Location check-in and sharing displaying where users are playing with, and walking their dogs.
- Activity tracker capturing how many miles/minutes users have walked or played with their dog.
- Dog-friendly place finder helping users find the best local trails, parks and beaches for their dogs. With new locations—such as bars, cafes and veterinary clinics—on their way.
- A customized home feed where users can share photos and interact with other dog owners nearby through commenting and liking.
- At the center of these features are profiles for users and their dog(s)—all of which are fully customizable, and keep a record of each dog's activity over time.
Accompanying the iOS app is waggle's mobile-first editorial website. Using original and curated storytelling, it will uncover and share the latest in modern dog culture from healthy activities to top dog-friendly destinations and do-it-yourself projects to exclusive gear, accessories, and products. Future versions of the website will include a searchable database of dog-friendly locations and commerce offerings.
"waggle is a truly connected experience, available wherever dog people congregate," says Roman Garcia, founder of waggle. "We are creating the pioneer lifestyle brand for dogs and their owners. Along with our digital experiences, our 2015 launch series will also include signature events in top dog-friendly cities across the U.S. and unique products for your dog's safety and wellness."
Garcia, an eBay veteran, founded waggle as part of an innovative venture opportunity created by the private investment firm Loeb Enterprises—whose proven track record includes such companies as Priceline.com and Synapse Group—and one of their investments, Matchfire Co. Both Loeb and Matchfire provided funding and strategic development to bring the waggle brand to market.
"There are more than 57 million U.S. households with dogs. And increasingly, dog owners are investing more of their time and money in their dog's happiness," says Rich Vogel, Chief Operating Officer of Loeb Enterprises. "We are launching waggle in order to provide this passionate community with a long-overdue lifestyle brand committed to maximizing their relationship with their beloved 'best friend'."
