LMFAO "Party Rocks" the Competition: Voted Greatest Workout Song of the Year in 2nd Annual March Music Madness
Celebrities, Fans and Music Enthusiasts Alike Crown 'Party Rock Anthem' in Tournament-Style Competition Hosted By Gold's Gym and Men's Health Magazine
DALLAS, April 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Gold's Gym, the world's leading authority in health and fitness, and premier fitness publication Men's Health, announced today that LMFAO can officially lay claim to having the most "rockin'" song in the gym. After a competitive nationwide vote, LMFAO's blood-pumping popular track, "Party Rock Anthem," nominated by New York Knicks forward Steve Novak, survived a bracket stacked with 15 chart-topping tunes to claim the title of greatest workout song of the past year in the second annual March Music Madness competition.
March Music Madness, a bracket-style competition designed to expose what kind of music gets gym-goers amped during their workouts, was refreshed for a second time to find out what song made you move and groove in the gym this year. "Party Rock Anthem" now joins the ranks with Kanye West's "Stronger," which took home the crown and title of greatest workout song of all-time during last year's March Music Madness contest.
Hundreds of song nominations from celebrities and fans of Gold's Gym as well as Men's Health were submitted from around the country, with sixteen of the most popular submissions chosen by Gold's Gym celebrity trainers and fitness experts to go head-to-head in the brackets. With thousands of votes logged during the competition, LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem," nominated by New York Knicks star Steve Novak, emerged from a "Final Four" that included mega hits "Moves Like Jagger" by Maroon 5, "Levels" by Avicii and Pitbull's "Give Me Everything Tonight."
As part of the competition, Gold's Gym is donating $5,000 to the charity of choice on behalf of the nominator of the winning song. As a result, Gold's Gym will be making a donation on behalf of Steve Novak to the Loeys-Dietz Syndrome Foundation. The LDSF is a non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging education about Loeys-Dietz syndrome and related connective tissue disorders to medical professionals and communities in order to aid in identification, diagnosis and treatment of Loeys-Dietz syndrome. LDSF also funds research and provides a support network for individuals, parents and families affected by Loeys-Dietz syndrome.
"With so many great new songs released in 2011, we knew we had to revisit March Music Madness again, as a tribute to both our members and the talented artists who create the music that help keep them motivated every day," said Dave Reiseman, Vice President of Communications for Gold's Gym International. "March Music Madness proves that year after year, music is a powerful part of the fitness experience, and we're thrilled that consumers continue to show support for this initiative, all while allowing us to give back to the greater community."
"I was excited to hear that 'Party Rock Anthem' came out on top during March Music Madness this year," said Steve Novak. "The song has always helped push me through some of my most difficult workouts, helping me up my game on the court. More importantly, I'm glad for the opportunity to give back to the Loeys-Dietz Syndrome Foundation, a cause that's really close to me. Thanks to everyone who voted!"
